First years don't lead protests bc they're new to the environment and the low ppl on the totem pole. Upperclassmen are influenced by the year or two above them who were leading when they were 1st and 2nd years. Change happens more quickly than comparable sized institutions but is not instant.

The Prairieland case has not gotten enough attention, and it's terrifying. These were a bunch of trans and queer lefties, many of whom didn't know each other before the protest, who went down to a protest and were deemed terrorists and put in jail and denied hrt and medications.

For many Black women, the Target boycott is not over. It may never be.
A faith leader announced the end of a yearlong βTarget fast,β but many Black women who helped launch the boycott say the movement wasnβt his to call off.
We spoke to Black women who started the Target boycott & who sustained it for a yr+. They'll likely never go back.
Teacher Laverne Mickens put it like this: β[Black women] will say if & when itβs over. And I can tell you right now: That will be the 15th of never ever.β

Anti-ICE protesters accused of being part of antifa found guilty of support for terrorism in Texas
Case was seen as major test of the first amendment and whether the US could use broad anti-terrorism statute to prosecute leftwing protesters
today all 9 people federally charged with "materially supporting terrorism", rioting, carrying an explosive, as part of an "ANTIFA cell" were found guilty on some or all charges. the case was based in part on being in Signal organizing group chats and possessing political leftist zines.

So many of my Jewish friends in urban areas tell me that they need security at their synagogues because of the constant undercurrent of threats and violence, most of which never make it to the news. You should not need a security guard to go to your place of worship.

Montclair High Students Walk Out to Protest ICE
Montclair High School students marched to protest ICE activity, voicing their concerns for immigrant rights in New Jersey.
To the point that @prisonculture.bsky.social was making yesterday: high school students continue to walk out EVERYWHERE, but there is no mainstream media coverage of it.

Whatβs true is DHS, CBP, ICE et al seem to be in most places. Vermont just had a violent kidnapping that is getting little attention. ICE has not left Maine.
Until we abolish DHS, kidnappings will continue as ICE is well-funded, has RE, and travels with corporate contracts.

Actually, they managed to fill it without much mainstream support. Had they had the support that the GC crowd get, they could have filled Wembley Stadium with ease, never mind the arena.
And, with all that support, GCs can't get over 100 people to turn up on a good day.

Her politics aren't confused, she's just falling down the far right rabbit hole. It's very frustrating to me that this is always framed only around antisemitism: this is about a successful far right recruitment campaign using a progressive sore point (Israel).
This matters if we ant to stop it.
