This is a package of fun, and itβs brilliant that Indy designers like @limithron.bsky.social can work with bigger (but still independent - this is a hill I will die on) companies to make beautiful stuffed boxes like this. We admired the core book when it came out but this makes us want to play! 9/9

Assorted Pirate Borg maps and counters.
And then there are the maps! Charts for adventures battle maps for fights and sea battles, ship cross sections and deck plans. And what good are battle-maps without counters? No good at all! So there are counters too, for characters NPCs, chickens, the direction of the wind, the watch of the day 8/?

A four colour style cover illustration featuring undead conquistadors, natives and pirates. What more does a Pirate Borg adventure need?
7/? That rule book is 80 pages by the way which I think is pretty much all the rules in the core book, missing only more ships more monsters and more random adventure and encounter tables. And the box includes a second book with a new 60 pages long adventure, unavailable elsewhere. So much value!

A Morg Borg style character sheet but for Pirate Borg.
The cover of the Pirate Borg start set rules book features a skeletal pirate with cutlass and hook.
Traditionalists, and poor fools who think itβs worth getting attached to their character, will find a pad of paper character sheets in the box too. Perhaps better used *post mortis* to make of permanent record of a dead character for posterity. The rule book is of course a cut down one, but not much

Some of the cards in the starter set
Dry erase character sheets!
There is a small pack of cards, featuring creatures, NPCs, ship types and β¦ the Tongue of Thoth ? These are beautifully illustrated, but maybe less exciting than the dry erase markers, because those markers come are for reusable character sheets! Which are incredibly useful given a Borg lifespan 5/?

A set of white on black polyhedral dice with large and clear Arabic numerals.
The polyhedral dice are
elegantly piratical. The fact that each number is simply made βbig enough to fill the face of the dieβ leads to clarity, but also a jumble of sizes, which are BEAUTFULLY chaotic. Just like a crew of pirates. There is even a (skull)heads or tails coin included. 4/?

The touchy-feely embossed box top of the Pirate Borg starter set.
Why? Let me count the ways. First of all the thing I didnβt even notice until I was packing it away. The box is, in the Borg tradition, textured. The characters are embossed, but not only that, there is a little bit of gloss varnish on the blood red tongue and the entrails the creature holds 3/?

Listeners may already have heard me on our podcast raving about this Starter Set as I unboxed it βliveβ during recording. It excited me, in a way I have not been excited by stuff I have been sent in quite a while. It excited me even more than the Alien starter set (WHICH WE BLOODY WROTE!) did. 2/?

We are currently working on Gold County, a supplement for #TalesoftheOldWest, Lone Rider - solo rules for that game AND an epic #AlienRPG adventure for 60 players at @ukge.bsky.social. This last is shaping up nicely, first act pretty much done, 2nd act still needs work before a playtest next weekend

Original KS retail backers, Paladinβs Game Castle released this video about our game. The imagery is AI generated, hence some very strange dice pools, but the script is great. youtube.com/shorts/493ag...

To be honest, I am not sure Excalibur was on the cards at this point in time. I think it was just Delano trying to find his feet, and looking for a direction that was not Moore. He did better in that regard with Hellblazer.

Actually no. I think when he was drawing this, he was still doing it in his spare time, while working in a warehouse in Corby. But he will have visited it - it was a Mecca for artists and fans. And I bought three pages of his original art (which you will be reading soon) there.
