The meaning @pkrugman.bsky.social flags here is the legacy of labor and unionization. Coal became a “good job” because of unions. Yet the very politicians who wrap themselves in coal’s charisma spent their careers undermining labor. Sobering and scary that the Dems are unable to exploit this.

I was going to wait to share my latest until it had passed through SSRN moderation, but apparently it is already getting downloads. In this paper, @ericjeisner.bsky.social and I investigate the overarching structure of the Constitution's officer/office provisions. papers.ssrn.com/abstract=502...

Libraries feel like something about which we could very easily be saying, “Remember that place where you could borrow books, for FREE, and return them when you were finished?” And kids would say “What?? No way!” And yet there they still are, despite everything we’ve become, existing. Remarkable.

Grateful for the leadership of the 8 Senators who are urging President Biden to use his clemency power to correct excessive sentences. You can read their letter here: static.politico.com/0b/1b/acd7e8...

Embarrassing confession: One time I said something on one social media network, but didn't cross-post it to all of them.

I was wrong about every political prediction of the last decade, but this time I know I’m right.
