This was the first time in my memory when I faced a family member's medical emergency I felt no need to pray for the recovery. Nada, zilch, zero. My wife is alive today because of the excellent medical great care she received at the Royal Columbia Hospital. God had nothing to do with it.

If we were still living in Virginia, and even if we had insurance, we would still be several thousand dollars in the hole. The other thing I would like to note is that God had nothing to do with my wife's recovery.

There are many reasons why I'm glad I move back to Canada. Here's one. My wife had a pulmonary embolism on Monday. She spent most of Monday night in surgery. Happy to say she's doing well with a good prognosis. She'll be in the hospital for about a week. None of it will cost my family one penny.
