Excited to share I’ve been awarded a Creative Residency at the Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences for this summer! This is my first residency since becoming a parent so it’s a big deal. Grateful for my @newsguild.org union contract for this “sabbatical” time off.

That you give everyone $2-$3.
But returning Elon Musk’s money to taxpayers would give everyone about $1,300 each.

I’m so sorry to have to be the one to tell you that university administrators have never been on your side.
I have spoken to several hundred adjunct faculty members of major universities, of all genders, all afraid all the time that they will not have jobs after every term. Lack of job security in higher ed is nothing new - it’s why we organize.
the NLRB was a nice concession to labor, but it was a concession won in struggle. they wanna take it back, they get the struggle back too

JUST IN: Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he is canceling a $68 million contract with Elon Musk’s Starlink internet services in response to Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canada.

To all personnel: At the direction of Agency leadership, the USAID headquarters at the Ronald Reagan building in Washington, D.C. will be closed to Agency personnel on Monday, February 3, 2025. Agency personnel normally assigned to work at USAID headquarters will work remotely tomorrow, with the exception of personnel with essential on-site and building maintenance functions individually contacted by senior leadership. Further guidance will be forthcoming.
New — USAID staff received an email just a few minutes ago letting them know HQ would be closed to all personnel Monday. It’s likely some employees will miss the overnight email, show up and be turned away.
It was sent by Gavin Kliger, one of the young guys at DOGE doing Musk’s bidding.
