I especially appreciated this post from @judedoyle.bsky.social unpacking this very sentiment jude-doyle.ghost.io/y/?_bhlid=f8...
remember when the panama papers came out and we found out every rich person on earth was committing tax fraud and then nothing happened
Officials, nonprofits and media folks staying on shitty platforms: Have you forgotten what collective power means? I've boycotted ALL Facebook products since 2008 (or 2009 or 2010?) and even then people thought I was "only hurting myself". It's not true, it's a narrative and we can dispel the myth.
When it collapses it will seem sudden, all at once. But if something doesn't change soon this regime is finished. Keep striking, keep fighting, keep pushing where you can, keep building resilience and mutual aid, keep caring for one another and building the world you want to live in.
true.
"...in the non-profit world, the lack of tech expertise or fluency is often exploited by both the technology vendors and bad actors who swoop in to capitalize on their vulnerability." from @anildash.com www.anildash.com/2026/01/05/a...
Once upon a time, long, long ago, a guy in a bar told me how many Twitter followers he had, and I still think about it.
The LinkedIn "Your year in review" sent me over the edge. I sent a raven to coordinate the raining of pox. It will summon its brothers and sisters on the winter solstice and bring sweet damnation to the fuckheads who decided that wrapping up the year with stupid factoids of app use is a thing now.
"Thou shalt not change default typefaces." Mos def one of the original commandments.
"...theyβd rather destroy democracy and destroy education and destroy the planet than just get therapy." @audreywatters.bsky.social gave a helluva talk this week: 2ndbreakfast.audreywatters.com/ai-grief-obs...
Idk if people who follow me are still writing on substack but if you are, a default privacy setting is set to let AI scrape your writing so you might want to check that. One of the first FOSS projects I did was called Open Attribute, and attribution doesn't matter an iota to these fuckers.

#mozfest Pro-tip: As you travel to Barcelona, scroll the schedule and just add ALL the sessions that peak your interest. There's too much happening to make such decisions on the fly and this way you've got a shortened list.
See you soon @mozilla.org :)
I wrote about my website as a junk drawer for #reclaimopen and I kind of want to explore the metaphor more : reclaimopen.com/session/my-w...
I use Claude (an AI) to scan my posts for spelling and grammar errors. On the most recent post (about the East Wing, link below), I got a really amazing addendum.

Given how much the GOP actively and openly disdain women, is it really surprising that their overlord destroyed the East Wing?
Yep, this is basically what we all think about AI. And it is exhausting to have to pick apart the political, social and economic implications of the ridiculous hype machine every time people outside of tech say stupid stuff about how AI is a game changer
Yesterday my mom showed me her signs for #nokings, which she's going to with her friends. She's in her seventies and mad as hell. I'm super proud. π
I feel like #security tips like these, especially for y'all in the US, need to be spread around: social.coop/@dennyhenke/...
Ffs #opensource as a concept is mainstream enough that there is absolutely no excuse for anyone working at an OSPO or in #FOSS MGMT to act like this. It's gross:

I considered writing a long carefully constructed argument laying out the harms and limitations of AI, but instead I wrote about being a hater. Only humans can be haters.
Also, I think I just sort of reply-guyed, so sorry about that.
If one person gives a toss, that's plenty for me. But then I am a bit anti-tracking and also think KPIs and growth statistics are capitalist / corporate nonsense. What impact is a newsletter trying to have and does merely opening it create impact? Y we measuring everything all the time?
I don't love linking to substack but this deposition of Laura Loomer is sadly not surprising. Seems wild, unless you've recently experienced the right-wing illogical logic:

(you can also send me an email! Just hit reply on the latest and I'll make sure to remove you from the list)
Oh I'm really sorry! DM me your email addy and I will purge you from the DB. Sorry for the inconvenience!
