I’ve just returned from appearing before the backbench business committee where I successfully applied for a debate on banking services in rural areas.

Yesterday Labour MPs voted against banning under-16s from harmful social media, making school uniform cheaper, giving vulnerable children enough money for therapy, and siblings separated in the care system the right to stay in contact.

I was pleased to see the Government present the Social Cohesion Strategy yesterday. Promised last year, it is needed now more than ever.

Strong communities are built not by excluding people, but by ensuring that everyone feels they belong.

The decision to end the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme has created real uncertainty for churches and faith buildings, many of which rely on local donations for essential repairs. Ministers must now make clear how they will be supported if this VAT relief ends.

⚖️ Today I voted AGAINST the Government’s Courts & Tribunals Bill, because it would erode our right to trial by jury.

Jury trials are a cornerstone of our justice system here in the UK. 🇬🇧

Yesterday on BBC Newsnight, we discussed the ongoing war in Iran and when Trump might decide to end it. We also spoke about the UK's involvement and recent criticisms of Starmer.

I was proud to vote against restricting trial by jury last night.

If more Labour backbenchers had taken a stand, alongside the Liberal Democrats, we could have stopped the government.

This morning I spoke to BBC Radio Somerset about the Heating Oil price shock and what can be done about it. Liberal Democrats are proposing immediate, sensible steps to protect people.

I will keep you updated as to what the Government decides to do after my meeting with the Treasury this morning.

Yesterday in Parliament, I called on the Government to commit to a full ban on fur sales – ensuring our trade policy matches domestic welfare standards and preventing the offshoring of animal cruelty.
