I’m glad you’re out riding though! It’s been way too cold for early rides, but I got outside twice this week so I’m pretty thrilled about that. I go to Vegas next week and when I get back, we should be in pretty much every day outside riding season.
The ability to actually improve and aspire for growth in ability or success can only come from a sentient intellect. AIs best near and mid term future is in sorting through high volumes of data to provide highest probability outcomes, saving time on diagnosis in all kinds of problems.
This was the point I was making earlier. There are limited tasks where AI is or can be better than humans. Any creativity in the code comes from the coder and “learning” to be creative is just mimicry. If ai can’t write a better buzzfeed article, that’s a low bar.
I was simplifying, I don’t think any of the cases that are more than truly work automation all rely on the fiction of an AI that is that point just shy of self awareness, like when we think about medical diagnosis or extreme human level problem analysis. But im super jaded from working in the field
There’s a lot I don’t understand but 99.999% of AI efforts are going to fail because there’s only 2 real use cases; automate work or build something that becomes self aware, and we only need so many of the first and nobody is even close to the second.
