Hi There,
As confirmed, this will not be changed. This is intentional behaviour that is baked into our http engine logic.
Kind Regards,
Alan

PSA: You CAN'T use @bunny.net as DDoS protection for Mastodon/Fedi servers.
Their reverse proxy implementation quietly breaks Mastodon request signing, and support just got back to me and said it's intentional and they won't fix it.

I'm disappointed.

Also more blatantly, if you scroll it partially off screen it just sticks out of the scroll view and overlays everything (header bar etc).
They really should make it fade out at least so it's not so jank...

It's React Native so I'm guessing it's the same code implementing that animation

The Android app is doing a funny thing for the zoom animation... it looks like when clicking out of fullscreen, it animates an overlay resizing down into the original image box, but on *top* of the original image, so the opacity is double at the end point (then ~0.5s later the overlay vanishes).

A CTF competition is basically gameified homework.
LLMs broke the game. Now all that's left is self study.

And then that kills the pipeline that leads people to become good enough to travel to in-person CTFs. A newbie isn't going to do that and learn. In-person heavily favors those with privilege (to spend money traveling) and those with experience (who do it for the prizes).

You could so easily cheat by just solving it with an LLM on a different computer, then parallel constructing "the solution" while reading its output and coming across as just someone with really good guesses and knowledge.
It's a mess. This basically kills online CTFs.

The problem is it's a *competition*. You can't stream yourself live, you'd help other teams.
So then you have to record yourself and post it later... but who is going to watch all that? And how do you prove it was not parallel construction?

Certainly could be improved to avoid corner cases like this. I would much rather it never do compression (that's just eww) and just normalize up/down to a peak level (and down to a target LUFS) with a maximum amplification level of 16dB or something reasonable.

Okay I see what happened. The audio really is in there... it's just really quiet. It looks like Bluesky is applying automatic volume normalization.
Judging by the way it got unevenly amplified, my guess is it's going for some target LUFS then applying compression/limiting.

What did you use to export the original file?
Hypothesis: Whatever you used is adding ~20ms priming samples in front, and forgets to zero them out (so you get uninitialized garbage), and Bluesky isn't trimming that out when transcoding.

Fascinating. Does the original have no audio track at all, or just a silent audio track? Mobile or web upload? Were you listening to music while uploading? I have so many questions...

I'm waiting for federation and self hosting to cook a bit first!
The other issue is splintering the community, but I guess Linux users are probably more willing to try it so it would be a good topic to try ^^

Lina: That ended so fast!
Me: But when they cuddle they bite each otherβs necks.
Me: Want to try?
Lina: Eh? Ahβ¦
Me: Hmm~ looks like thatβs your weak spot.
Me: You can say the safe word, you know.
