"If you make it trend you make it real", I saw this in Renee Di Resta's book "invisible rulers" and it haunts me how true it is.

haha, nice one!
Think this could apply to most areas of policy at the moment, the energy transition is another. In a time of deep polarisation how do you defend complexity in policy making?
I think the world needs a new label for someone who has recently become concerned about the environmental impacts of renewable energy, but not the environmental impacts of any other form of development, especially fossil fuels or nuclear. Bespoke environmentalist? Niche greenie? All ideas welcome.
Happy 2025 bluesky. Feeling like this year is going to be a bloody slog in the fight for a liveable planet. Always good to have some Rebecca Solnit; "The old certainties are crumbling fast, but danger and possibility are sisters. The future is dark, with a darkness as much of the womb as the grave"
I nearly died in the Warrandyte tunnel once when my canoe flipped and got wedged at the exit. Got bad scrapes. Over time the story becomes bigger. You have much room for growth with this tale.
As Greg jericho pointed out this must be such a kick in the guts to all cabinet members.
No idea why anyone in the ALP cabinet would bother turning up to work when you have the PM doing this shite
Whoa this is way below what Australia needs to hit to be 1.5 aligned. Not at all helpful to have this come out at this point in time when we are advocating for science based budget approaches that have Australia needing to hit at least 90% and bottom up modelling showing 85 is possible.
What a week of shitfuckery from the ALP
Wow that is interesting
Remember the Nature Positive Summit in October? Now that that photo shoots out of the way the ALP can get on with BAU capitulating to the worst of the mining and fossil fuel lobby. No wonder the country is disenchanted by politics.
Okay, I have to do a thread on this pretty amazing article because it is just seriously chockers with eye-opening stats about 'direct air capture' - ie, sucking up air and trying to remove carbon dioxide from it
news.mit.edu/2024/reality...
WAs new carbon capture and storage action plan a case in point for false climate solutions.
So much rubbish in WA govs CCUS plan. Lumping everything into the category of 'hard to abate' when really this only applies to cement and a few other niche activities. Most use cases in here not climate solutions, just fossil fuel lifelines www.wa.gov.au/government/p...
Wait I didnt know it wasnt a thing before it became a thing again? Is that because Im cottagecore?
Anyone else remember that widget that would turn any news article photo of Tony Abbott into a cat? Would appreciate a similar one for the incoming US president thanks (but maybe a dog because im a dog person, and doesnt have to be a cute one).
With the support of +WWF-Australia *we reviewed the status of 188 renewable energy projects undergoing the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation approval process
107 solar and wind projects (approved or non-controlled) went through in >1 year

Haha and I suspect the reverse is true of men unfortunately!
You need a photo where you are laughing hysterically whilst coming out of the ocean. That seems to be in vogue for women. Im currently hiding behind a heron.
So here goes with another platform. Twitter taught me to get to the point and also brought me new friends. Linkedin taught me fake humility and performative praise. What will bluesky teach me?
