Had a fun weekend at the Blandford Literary Festival, who put on a special day of talks for International Women's Day. Was great to share some stories about the mighty Tollemache women from my new booklet.
Ha ha, no, it works a treat ποΈ
Excuse me! ποΈπ²
Just me cycling home from town earlier, with my new Heavenly bell attached to my bike. I bet you wish your bike was as cool as mine. (Unless you have your own Heavenly bell, of course.)

Love love love it! Xx
Thanks so much, Jon and Loren - great to have you in the next issue of the fanzine. Exciting! Enjoy the gig on Sunday.
Snap up a copy here, and please share this post to let your indie-pop friends know the fanzine exists!

One of my favourite things I've done is create a 44-page fanzine about nothing but Heavenly @heavenlyamelia.bsky.social @skepwax.bsky.social - full of interviews, fact files, problem pages, recipes and all sorts of silliness from the band, including Mathew. Fortunately, the band love it, too - phew!
My publisher, Tangent Books, is offering 20% off all of their music books. This includes 'These Things Happen: The Sarah Records Story'. Just use the code 'bristolmusic' when checking out. Remember, the offer expires at midnight on 5 March.

Thanks, Jon. Hope you enjoy!

Just in time for International Women's Day, my bookette about the Tollemache family of suffragists/suffragettes has arrived back from the printers. There's also a matching greetings card. Click the link for more info and please help spread the word. Thank you! www.janeduffus.com/shop/vote-an...
News of a Heavenly fanzine⦠(need to read the whole thread)
That *is* a good post day. Those records look fab. Thanks for buying the zine - I hope you enjoy it.
The band have been very generous with their time and goodwill as I put this together, so I'm extremely grateful to them all. Good times.

You can also look forward to Cathy and Amelia tackling your romantic teasers on the problem page, Rob taking over the recipe section, a very testing band quiz⦠and so much more. As well as lots of photos and memories from some of their famous friends.
This 44-page, full-colour A5 music fanzine includes brand new interviews with every single band member (including a previously-unseen interview from 1994 with Mathew) and fact files on your favourite Heavenly members. As well as LOTS of their famous friends pitching in.
So instead... I've dedicated issue two of my fanzine Zine Things Happen to Heavenly and really gone to town. Excitingly - it's out this week and I'm really pleased with how it's turned out, squeak!
When I wrote The Big Book of Sarah Records a few years ago, I really wanted to do a whole chapter just about Heavenly (@skepwax.bsky.social) - because they're my absolute favourite Sarah band. But it seemed a bit weird to single them out in a book that also celebrated a lot of other great bands.
Excuse Me, there's a new single out today by Heavenly on @skepwax.bsky.social. See if you can spot me at the 20 seconds mark in the video. Thank you to the band for inviting me to be involved :-)

I've been lucky enough to have an early listening copy of Heavenly's brand new album (out at the end of February) and I honestly can't stop playing it. You're gonna love it, pop fans. 100%.
I'm no photographer but I took some festive-ish photos of some of my books to try and persuade people that they would make excellent Christmas presents. Because they really would. Especially if they are signed and dedicated to that special person in your life.

Oh no, I'm sorry that you had that problem. And what a pity that those small businesses have given you a bad experience. I promise we're not all like that. Most of us are so grateful for the custom that we'll go out of our way to show it x
Please shop local. Small businesses GENUINELY appreciate you because you help us to exist - but the mammoth businesses couldn't give a shit. Thank you.

Tomorrow (6 Dec) is Small Business Saturday - and hopefully you have some money left over from splurging with the mesomorphic titans (Amaz*n etc, I'm looking at you) to support the small businesses that Amaz*n etc are squeezing out of existence.
