By the way, also Hauerwas thinks that theology is made in the middle, with no clear point if departure nor end. You start to think theologically from the situation/community you find yourself in...

In medio ecclesiae is a Dominican motto echoed by Rowan Williams idea that theology is made in the middle of things.
But what is the middle of things (especially of that thing which is the Church)?
The pope? the clergy? the Bible? The Eucharist? The poor? The Vatican? The peripheries?
It's a war of interpretation. Bible hermeneutics without Christ as the guiding principle can go really wrong. Sadly zionist and nationalist christians (who have lost any meaningful contact with the tradition if the church) forget it.
