Something @sgoodyear.bsky.social points out that I'm reminded of each time people post about the war, gas prices and the need to switch to EVs is that the V in EV stands for "vehicle," not "car." E-bikes are EVs and cities need to create the conditions that will allow more people to adopt them.

MTA killed 365 units of affordable housing citing funding constraints. Prop I tax revenue could have been used to fund these homes but Lurie refuses to spend that $ on housing. And now he & the YIMBY supervisors are trying to abolish the tax to enrich billionaires instead of building social housing.

Media literacy: this (common) framing is misleading. $183m sounds like a lot, but it's over 3 years. SFUSD's annual budget is ~$1.2 BILLION and this year's cost is <$32m. So the contract represents 2.65% increase on the budget, consistent with inflation. Big whoop. thefrisc.com/sfusds-183m-...

There have always been horrifically anti-trans groups and individuals. Few have done more, though, to launder their hate into “respectable” conversations than Jess Singal. No publications have done more to help that along than The Atlantic and The New York Times.
