In an ongoing project, we ask which countries citizens prefer as benchmarks for policy decisions.
Pilot data from the UK show that Denmark is ranked as one of the most preferred reference countries, particularly in relation to migration policy.
This paper examined existing English research on government and administrative communication during the policy process, aiming to introduce the state of research and problematization to the Japanese context.
My first paper in Japanese titled "Government Communication in the Policy Cycle: Discussions in English Research and Implications for the Japanese Context" has been published in Public Communication Studies by the Public Relations Association for Social Sectors in Japan.

Day 2 at #vsjf2025
Still reflecting on the inspiring discussion from Day 1, especially the transformation of "liberals" in Japan and symbolic phenomena in several domains including identity politics. Many of the issues raised by the presenters were relevant to my own topic: political communication.
I am so honored, happy, and still a bit in disbelief that my book "The Normalization of the Radical Right" has won APSA's Dahl Award and the best book prize for the Democracy and Autocracy Section.
I can't thank enough everyone who has helped out with this project throughout the years.
