An all-Republican 4th Circuit panel has just ruled that states can compel trans adults to "appreciate their sex" by enacting care bans.
It even directly says that trans adult care bans are legal in the ruling.

to be clear, this is a ban on *Medicaid funding* for trans healthcare, not the care itself. Which is very bad! It's basically authorization for what Republicans were trying to do through the budget appropriations process in miniature.
Gotta say that this is some extremely creepy language. And the argument basically is... that if the prevent people from treating gender dysphoria (adults, in this case), that they'll just... stop having it? That's not at all how any of this works.
Have I mentioned that for trans people whose bodies no longer make endogenous sex hormones, this is a death sentence preceded by weakened bones, heart disease and whole slew of unregulated body functions including temperature, sleep, digestion and mood (dis)regulation?

I remember learning about the Hays Code in film school and how it made it so that any amoral protagonist had to meet karmic justice by the end of the film and going “wow, that’s really silly” and then once a week I log online and see people argue that we need stuff like that now or it’s problematic
Seems like it takes an average of 12 accusations before cops start investigating, so basically in the US, you get the first 11 rapes free. But obviously the rich get dozens to hundreds before the police, corporations, and politicians stop turning a blind eye and start covering their own asses.
Gonna have a bit more of a rant about the 'there's just so many damn trans women online!' thing.
I think people mistake this for some sort of systemic privilege; that we are being lifted up comparative to our peers because we are more acceptable within the public eye.
This is categorically untrue.
It isn't actually a privillege to have to try and scrape by on the instable proceeds generated through your patreon, gofundme, onlyfans or itch because you have been excluded from the formal economy.
That is something that you have to do because the alternative is to fucking starve.

1) They are not the largest accounts.
2) They are still mostly poor as fuck.

kinda weak reporting by Wired in terms of bsky "positioning itself as a progressive twitter replacement" since the staff on here have been incredibly clear that that's not what they wanted to do and never wanted to do

And we have a LOT of medications and treatments where a double-blind is inherently unethical (i.e. vaccines, life-critical meds, and many older meds). I’d put HRT in that category.
