It’s hard for a VP running for president to separate from her boss (see also Humphrey, Hubert). I think President Harris would have been persuadable on Gaza. Letting the consultants take over the campaign (muzzling Walz, campaigning with Lynne Cheney) felt like a bigger momentum killer
