Bell Keeper
Bell Keeper
A tumblr post from orteil42 (cookie clicker dev) that says: am i losing the drive to create things for an increasingly alien and hostile world whose mounting taste for fascism feels like a cold metal vise around my skull or am i just lazy and unmedicated and looking for excuses
Sorry for the lack of activity itβs literally just this

New art!
I want every word of this in massive letters of fire in the sky. Thank you, @moryan.bsky.social.
Lots to do this year, including trying to update here more often. Hereβs a roundup of some sculpture highlights of 2025 β¨
orlov (@sicsimptyrannis): "people in the Bronze Age actually lived far more luxurious lives than our own. Archaeological evidence indicates that they had vases with octopuses on them. do you have that? didnt think so"
YOU - Suffering will only make me stronger.
ENDURANCE - It's probably this way of thinking that got you where you are.
I am obsessed with the original historical boots and am incredibly jealous. They look STUNNING! How do they feel to wear?
Kind of infatuated with by the blue hues and delicate textures of "Sapphira". Beautiful creation by @kristeneganart.bsky.social - previously part of THE MAGNIFICENT ARTHROPODS is on display at @archenemyarts.bsky.social.

This also applies to the '90s, tbh
God, yeah. Even better when they're the ones that look just straight-up like pearls because then I get to feel Fancyβ’ when I crunch the shit out of 'em.
Me, right now. And itβs not even an action scene.

Page of an ink sketchbook with a moth fairy anatomy study.
Page of an ink sketchbook of a woman bust under the moon light and a votive earing.
Pages I like from my ink sketchbook for "Lost in the Forest" and "Their Resting Bones" patrons.
It helped so much last year, getting my silly thoughts on paper without much pressure.

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.
I miss him, man.
IT'S A FRIDAY ONCE AGAIN!
An image of Lae'zel caressing the Gith egg with the caption "My child will not be allowed to use chat gpt. He will be smarter and stronger than the other children and he will kill them easily."
Daicon 4 is a truly labor of love, and an example of ingenuity and not needing money to create something beloved. The broke students had to pool money to buy 1 animation cel, then ended up cutting up vinyl shower curtains to use instead. The frames would start sticking to eachother as it was filmed.
They needed the skeleton to be a little ickier.
A wolf skull with green moss, ferns, morels, prince agaricus and blue oyster mushrooms growing on it and through it. There is a red flame above the skull. In the middle of the forehead is a sun with colors of the rainbow in concentric circles. The rays are yellow and orange.
Posted on my Patreon/Ko-fi! Going to be showing some of my work at a local gallery next Sunday. Hereβs the art I made for the flyer.

Fuck yeah, dude.
Just realized Bluesky isn't so bad for linking yt videos unlike the rest of social media these days. Here's one of a few videos I have on my dusty dusty channel, mixing both my process and my music. I don't have the time or patience to do them these days but I'm really proud of the ones I made.
Four young Barn Swallows sitting on a cattail. Their beaks are wide open.
I'm told today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #ShoutItOut so felt like a good time share this one. #birds
Agate bird.
A stoat in the deep woods, gathering snacks. The yellow mushrooms probably aren't edible but they do help balance the composition. I went wild with the scenery in this one. Digital (Photoshop CC), 2023.

An intricate octopus cut from a single piece of paper
Japanese artist Masayo Fukuda hand-cut this life-sized octopus from one sheet of paper. Known as Kirie in Japanese (translated as βcut pictureβ), the art form involves cutting intricate forms from a single sheet of white paper and then contrasting it against a black background to reveal the design.

Iwao Takamoto was one of the Disney greats. Films like Sleeping Beauty owe a lot to his meticulous lines.
The studio was a kind of home for him -- it was a big change. Just before, he'd been in the camps. We explore the story:
