I had never done something like this before, so I was a bit nervous, but I had no reason to be. It was well planned and structured by the teacher coordinating it. The kids were a group of “organized chaos” but there weren’t too many of them so it balanced out. I’d do it again.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to work with some kids in a workshop incorporating comics with Jewish study. It was a fun and fascinating experience. This drawing is one I did on the fly as a demo of my skills- I did a classic Watterson-inspired nature setting.
I just spent a little time searching for a *good* reference. A calendar that doesn't just list everything, but has notes for which events require accommodation. Here's the best I found so far:

I recently spoke with an inexperienced scheduler who had to move an event due to a religious holiday conflict. They told me they'd tried to check ahead, but "there are always religious holidays".
Organizers really need to find and use a good reference that notes *which* events require attention.
I mean there aren't "always religious holidays"
Funny though how the Jewish ones tend to not be considered as important, even though we make up a significant portion of the comics community. And like, the High Holy Days are kinda big for us. "The Holidays," if you will.

One explanation for the shape of Hamantashen is that Haman, the villain of the Purim story who tried to murder all the Jews of Persia, wore a 3-cornered hat. Bearing that in mind, I drew a plate of cookies. (From last year.)

Anyone who knows a lot about email scams- can you DM me? People have been contacting me more often claiming to be from important places, and I’ve been burned before so I’m trying to exercise caution. The emails don’t seem to be spoofed at all and I haven’t given any personal info that isn’t public.
