I think sometimes they change just enough, so that if the software or hardware is shown in a manner that would give the real product a bad look, it protects them from the complaints :)

It's still sorta fake. It's part Outlook 97, part made up.
No matter what OS it could be running on it would never have "Files (F)" or whatever on the menu bar. it always underlines the Alt key combination. and they wiped off text under the icons. Also "Files" instead of "File" is a dead giveaway.

a few years ago I did a similar thing with an AM/FM clock radio that looked like an iMac (screen took a crap, so this was to keep it running). At first it was running magicmirror2 to show the weather, but now it's just using xscreensaver. This has a pi0w original version so its a lil slow for macOS
