The best, and most Resident Evil thing, about RE right now is that the original RE1 is obviously part of the original canon but the remake of RE1 is also part of the original canon so in that new, darker, more prestige modern game feeling remake canon, there currently is no Resident Evil 1.

There's obviously an entire generation of RE fans who know the remakes far better than the originals, so I can see what they were going for here, but then there's the in-game element that Leon has been away for the same amount of time as someone who played the original game when it came out.

I've got like 2/3rds of a video script down about this very thing. The Resi timeline is a right mess - RE9 is obviously closely tied to the remakes but also represents the canonical moving forward of RE which includes the original games and 5 and 6 which currently aren't linked to the remakes. What?

in your daft mate's defense, P definitely takes a bit to get going. Wukong is probably more immediately cool but then you realise... that's it. That's all it is. Lies of P definitely blossoms over the entire game.

it is *crazy* how much it sold considering how uninspiring it is. the production values are insane, which does a lot of heavy lifting, but it's so limited, restrictive. it's basically a series of boss fights that so far haven't really done anything that has blown my skirt up.
