Summary: "Eddie?!" A woman's voice interrupts across the line, and Eddie sucks in a sharp breath when he hears her voice. "Maddie," is all he can say, a wretched sob escaping as he continues to hold Buck's head steady. His hands shake. There's so much blood. "Where's Buck, Eddie?" Her voice is hard, as hard as he's ever heard it. "He's here, Maddie," he confirms shakily, tears falling to Buck's body, mixing with his blood. "He's-he's-" Eddie swallows down the panic and tries again. "He's been hit, Maddie, he's been hit." He inhales a rush of air he almost chokes on. "p-please, where's my RA unit?" In which Buck gets hit by a car, Eddie's the first on the scene, and the entire hospital ships it. Or: In the weeks following his conversation with Father Brian, Eddie starts seeing everything in a new light. However, when Buck gets hurt, it opens his eyes in more ways than a simple conversation with a priest ever could. Who knew it'd take another near death experience for Eddie and Buck to wake up and smell the roses? (The entire 118 & their family, that's who.)
