Rob Bignell says try something risky and I 100% agree. Write in the present tense, write in the second person, write from a non-binary perspective, turn a poem into prose or prose into a poem, or create a visual poem. You can do it! It’s fun.

We all feel like that, but think about those ten people who enjoyed it. Something’s missing in the promotion chain. What if agents repped books that are already out? All that work has to count for something. Good to know it improved my communication skills.

The dismantling of the publishing industry means no support for promoting new authors. We need alternative systems for promotion. Giving everything away for free and monetizing later is the β€œcontent creator” model, but a book is a lot of work and it shouldn’t have to be given away for free.

You know I’m a huge fan of Bruce Lee’s philosophy, β€œbe water.” That’s why I’m putting Jeff Chang’s Water Mirror Echo on my short list for Spring reads. @zentronix.bsky.social

One can believe, simultaneously, that protesters in Iran should not be shot or hung en masse for speaking out against the government and that war against the mullahs in Iran is illegal without congressional authorization.

Shocking. We need the names and they need to be prosecuted.

Even Microsoft got rid of Delve.

It should only be used when describing what the dwarves do in the Lord of the Rings.

A cogent point about point-of-view and a topic to explore. What is objective and what is subjective? Centralizing experience within a character provides clarity, but doesn't require repeated attributions. Readers don't want to struggle, but you don't have hold their hand. Less is more in most cases.

Imagine if your birth certificate wasn’t proof of citizenship. That’s why there is an attack on birthright citizenship. At the same time wealthy immigrants can buy citizenship for $1,000,000. I’m already grumpy about having to show my driver’s license to vote. I don’t want to prove my family tree.

Set up to steal our words and ideas and repackage them for sale without paying any humans.

A language model is a semantic model is a knowledge model. It’s a search engine on steroids. It may not β€œthink” like a human but it knows more words than any human and it can retrieve more data mined human answers.

The models are getting better and better and they can help people solve real world problems. If you track the development from B.I, business intelligence or think about A.I. as a data mining and categorization operation, you start to understand their possibilities.
