Well done to @ee-reh-neh.bsky.social and all members of the team! Truly inspiring to see this sort of work being done!
First, a couple of weeks ago:

Single cell RNAseq on blood from 200 donors across 4 sites in Indonesia spanning regional axes of genetic and environmental diversity. This is one of very few scRNA data sets from the Global South, including urban and rural settings.
I just tried to register.
The March date is already listed as Full!
I did register for the April date. You have a chance to enter questions. I don't know if there will be another opportunity to do this.
Thanks Bruce ππ€π½β€οΈ
Also, happy endometriosis awareness month π»π
People in my life have asked why Iβm open about my health π₯ and a BIG reason is to bring enough awareness to conditions to encourage ACTION βπ½
π£ Thereβll also be events in New York City this week hosted by www.endofound.org if people are interested πͺπ½
Oh, wow! A huge congratulations to the Alexandrov Lab! β¨
My endometriosis excision laparoscopy is tomorrow! Hopefully everything goes well!π€π½π€π½π€π½
Weβll be using the Da Vinci Surgical Robotβit kind of feels like a full circle moment? π
I first saw one as a first year bioengineering undergrad in the @ucsdmedschool.bsky.social MET basement for some event π€
Iβve been back in the States πΊπΈ for a few days now and β¦ oh dear, I miss public transportation π π
Also, traveling with chronic nerve pain and inflammation in the cold is difficult BUT semi-possible with MANY heat warmers, ample rest, and strong medicine π₯²
My endometriosis surgery is in two weeks!
I recently wanted a fantasy sort of book to relive my Artemis Fowl and Percy Jackson days β¦ so I picked up The Will of the Many by James Islington on Libby and was pleasantly surprised!
Also finally read Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams ππ½
I don't let my social media platforms define what kind of loser I am
For a good chunk of my early days on the internet, I was on random forums talking about niche things like forecasting turnip prices (in bells, of course) and predicting PokΓ©rus π€
me needing romantacy audiobooks to survive the horrors puts my grandma's soap operas in a whole new light lol
A photo outside the window of the Grand Blissen Hotel in Jozankei, a region in the Sapporo area of Japan. There is a large mountain in the view of the window that is covered with the deep brown, stripped trunks of trees during the wintertime. Some of the trees have caught the snow, and some still have bushy, dark emerald-colored leaves. In the middle ground is a grey apartment building with approximately 10 floors in view that has a flat roof entirely covered in snow. Several buildings sit beside it, all also covered in snow. The photographer has her legs crossed and resting on a burnt orange ottoman, and sheβs wearing blue, starchy linen hotel-issue bottoms, along with grey tabi socks.
After navigating delayed flights and cancellations due to snowy weather, my husband and I finally made it to Sapporo for our honeymoon! βοΈπ»
We havenβt travelled with just the two of us for a while, so itβs nice to be able to spend time relaxing with your person πβ¨β€οΈ
Oh dear ... I've actually talked to people who didn't believe me when I said CI was a field of research π«£
Thanks Bruce β€οΈβπ©Ή
Dear lord I thought this was a joke ...
I was also so flustered by doing things on the fly with a lot of improv that I ended class an hour early π«
I lectured today for a Practical Bioinformatics course and the JupyterHub for the class wasnβt working for people π
So instead of just my βIntro to pandas, matplotlib, and seabornβ interactive session, I also did an ad-hoc lesson on how to install packages and create environments with conda π₯²
Thanks!! β€οΈ
Itβs a little scary but also super cool π Iβve watched a few surgery videos for this procedure to see how it works and whatnot β¦ and itβs amazing what modern medicine has to offer!! ππ½ π₯
Finished my appointment! It went well and my provider was able to address a lot of the concerns I had π₯Ήβ€οΈ
I have to do another diagnostic ultrasound to determine how the laparoscopy will be performedβlike if they need to use the surgical robotβbut after that, Iβll (hopefully) have closure! πβ¨
Lolll....
"Denmark changes Greenland's name to 'Epstein's Island' so Trump stops talking about it"
Thank you so much from across the internet! π₯Ή
I hope youβre staying warm where you are and that things are going smoothly for your degree program! ππ½β¨

Thank you for bringing this tool to my feed! I didnβt know about @paper-feed.bsky.social but itβs super cool π€©β¨ Iβm looking forward to using it!
Great job to the team! And amazing work! π β€οΈ
You don't get to turn your chatbot into a tool of mass sexualized harassment and then two weeks later say the problem is fixed because the abusers have to pay for the privilege.
My appointment with the @ucsdhealth.bsky.social MIGS surgeon is TODAY β¨ ππ½ π₯
Super duper nervous but also excited at the prospect of potentially getting rid of #Endometriosis legions that might be causing me all this chronic pain π₯Ή

A pale cream-colored Shiba Inu sits patiently toward the right-hand side of the photograph waiting for a treat that her owner is holding behind the cameraβshe is very reminiscent of a seal with the angle of the photo. Slightly unfocused toward the left-hand side of the photo is a Iced Avatar, a matcha latte with horchata from the coffee shop, the Forum, in San Diego, California. The lighting in the photo is from the sun, which is behind the subjects in the photo.
Oh goodnessβyou know youβre a regular at your local coffee shop if they have your drink ready by the time you get to the cashier π π«£
Shoutout to The Forum in San Diego, California for fueling my early morning remote work sessions and dog training sessions with Yuuki (She looks like a seal in this)
I got an initial appointment for second week of January! π ππ½ So excited but also really nervous to meet the surgeon π΅βπ«
This is super cool! I made a profile and look forward to using it -- but I am currently having issues with adding information to my profile though ... π
