Single cell RNAseq on blood from 200 donors across 4 sites in Indonesia spanning regional axes of genetic and environmental diversity. This is one of very few scRNA data sets from the Global South, including urban and rural settings.

We’ll be using the Da Vinci Surgical Robot—it kind of feels like a full circle moment? 😅 I first saw one as a first year bioengineering undergrad in the @ucsdmedschool.bsky.social MET basement for some event 🤖

I’ve been back in the States 🇺🇸 for a few days now and … oh dear, I miss public transportation 🚞 😭

Also, traveling with chronic nerve pain and inflammation in the cold is difficult BUT semi-possible with MANY heat warmers, ample rest, and strong medicine 🥲

Dear lord I thought this was a joke ...

I was also so flustered by doing things on the fly with a lot of improv that I ended class an hour early 🫠

I lectured today for a Practical Bioinformatics course and the JupyterHub for the class wasn’t working for people 😭

So instead of just my “Intro to pandas, matplotlib, and seaborn” interactive session, I also did an ad-hoc lesson on how to install packages and create environments with conda 🥲

It’s a little scary but also super cool 😭 I’ve watched a few surgery videos for this procedure to see how it works and whatnot … and it’s amazing what modern medicine has to offer!! 🙌🏽 🏥

Finished my appointment! It went well and my provider was able to address a lot of the concerns I had 🥹❤️

I have to do another diagnostic ultrasound to determine how the laparoscopy will be performed—like if they need to use the surgical robot—but after that, I’ll (hopefully) have closure! 😭✨
