Which one is the best antimicrobial ? I have a preference for Talisker π
Happy to share our last paper. We show that the inoculation of 4 commensal bacteria to chicks has both short- and long-term effects on immune response and microbiota composition and promoted the low-shedder phenotype thanks to a more fermentative microbiota.

We are looking for a PhD candidate starting on the 01-10-2025. The project aims to understand how the host cells use copper and oxidative species to fight Salmonella infection and how this pathogen evades this antimicrobial response.
SHORT DEADLINE ! 20-04-2025

π Save the date....
Iβm tempted to make the jump. How algaeβs is the learning curve ? (Iβm coming from Illustrator, and probably using it at 30% of its capacity)
That is tough. I saw also that ARC started their next EoI before releasing the results of last year, is that true ?? Be strong ! πͺ Youβre an amazing scientist π©βπ¬
Iβm working on mitochondria and link to immune system. Inll definitively have a read on your publication !!!
Is the format that different ? I mean as long it reads good and the qualities of the person shine ?
Thatβs something Iβve always wanted to dive into ! I means is there that many different ligands or is it pseudo genes ? My naive answer to that was that it might be due to the fact they are a filter organism but thereβs probably more to itβ¦
First snow this year in Touraine, France at my workplace (itβs been a few years without I heard)! Cold π₯Ά but so happy to see some snow βοΈ
Ah ah yeah totally π π€£
Nice work from @laurenpalmer.bsky.social ! Showing once more the important link between zinc, inflammation and antimicrobial response, Here, Acinetobacter baumannii.
Classic !!! And that should start our usual discussion about open access journals π
π
Perfect project for a post-doc! You will have access to a great set of data and we have already exciting hypotheses! Donβt hesitate to contact us.
Looking for PostDoc - Metabolism/Salmonella. We are looking for candidates with excellent knowledge in bioinformatics and bacterial physiology / microbial ecology.
We will help the candidate to build a successful application for
European grants such as EMBO and Marie SkΕodowska-Curie Actions.
Ahah yes ! I really need to come up with a research plan to work together !!!
With all the new people, perhaps I should post an introduction.
I am an immunologist identifying new antimicrobial responses in macrophages. My current research focuses on the use of metal ions (Zn & Cu) vs Salmonella infection. Always love to meet new faces and set up new collaborations. π¬π¦
Thanks for compiling these ! Very useful !
Yes, bold and change of colour really helps to point out the importance but I think
Very useful ! Thanks !
Itβs out ! Our review on antibacterial responses in macrophages in @NatRevImmunol . We tried to cover as many pathways as we can, macrophages always astonish me by their immense arsenal. Very happy to have collaborated on that paper !

Good News !
We are looking for a PhD student to work on understanding the role of zinc in the host response to Salmonella. How macrophage use the Zn? How Salmonella resist Zn and can escape this antimicrobial weapon? Deadline 31.05.24 to start 01-10-2024.

Yes definitely! We were interested in looking into M.abscessus in this context. Hopefully follow-up work :)
Super stoke with the publication of this work ! Amazing job from @KaustavDasGupt8 and James to carry out the work ! How the heavy metal zinc is linked to antimicrobial response in CF patients. doi.org/10.1073/pnas...
Music Brings People Together πΆ
A nice project from one of my friends to establish his awesome Music School close to Tours, France. Every little donation is worth a lot for them !

Last few days before deadline!
This work highlights the necessity to check discoveries using different models and different methods.
Biology is never simple ! Iβm happy to share our new publication on the role of HDAC6 on inflammasome. We used several methods (KO mouse, inhibitors, DARPINβ¦) to show that HDAC6 is NOT always driving the inflammasome and is context-dependent. DOI:https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jbc.2024.105638
