White and brown bone in rock, next to scale bar. The bone is around 4 cm wide.
I just got really, really, really excited by this fossil! Museum preparator Andrew has been working on this bit of skull from the "Mesaverde" Fm. of Wyoming (BLM permit, accessioned @alfpaleo.bsky.social). Turns out to be most of the back part of a croc skull - a VERY important specimen! π§ͺπ
The amount of belittling, vitriol and arrogance I see from the community each time a palaeontology-adjecent media project shows up. Guys, you don't come off as intelligent by demeaning individual production members, you just prove you've no experience working in media, and come of as mean spirited.

A fun undertaking I've been working on for two months!
A kinetic sculpture of a Geosternbergia flying over the Smoky Hill Chalk formation in the late Coniacian of the Cretaceous.
I've been wanting to have a go at @kayakasaurus 's kinetic sculpture guide that he put up so graciously.
You got me! Yes, the coloration was entirely inspired by the Prehistoric Kingdom Ouranosaurus because it is such a gorgeous design.
Thank you kindly. :D

#artshare time~
This is one of my favorite feeds, just good art for my eyes all day~
A monochrome sketch of an Iguanodon's head. It is looking towards the viewer. It is sketched quite harshly and messily, and is shown with large, angular scales, a soft tissue ridge atop the back of its head, and a ring of spines projecting from its base forming a sort of crown. A dewlap hangs below its head. It looks quite threatening, its expression reading as a slight sinister smile.

So this would be an arrival of July 27 depart 29... I have emailed Jack to aske if this would work with his schedule.... :)
Email from John Horner to Jeffrey Epstein 6/29/2012 Hi [redacted] Since i don't really know how long it would take to get from Albuquerque to the ranch and visa versa [sic], and don't know how I'm to get there (would someone be picking me up or should I rent a car) it would probably be best if you just booked the flight for me. Delta Airlines connecting through Salt Lake is the most convenient for me. My official name and frequent number [sic] is: John Robert Horner Delta # [REDACTED] The geology maps are perfect. Jack
email from Lesley Groff to Jeffrey Epstein "Reminder: John Horner and student to visit ranch today... [redacted] =ill [sic] be taking care of them...
Jack Horner being in the Epstein files is not something I had on my bingo card for 2026.... Horner seemingly visited Epstein's ranch multiple times, including apparently with a student.
Very special #FossilFriday, pleased to announced that we have a new paper out on reconstructing the ecosystem of Dry Mesa Quarry in the Morrison Formation
We used modern ecological techniques to quantity and model the ecosystem

The entire exhibit cabinet featuring specimens from the Weis museum. The top halves display specimens and photographs that teach visitors about bird evolution. The lower halves of the cabinet feature flourite and quartz mineral specimens.
The upper left section of the cabinet, which focuses on the common ancestry that birds share with dinosaurs.
The upper right section of the cabinet, which calls attention to features and behaviors that visitors can observe in modern birds that they share with their reptile relatives.
Happy #FossilFriday! I am absolutely thrilled to share the first new exhibit for the History Museum at the Castle to feature specimens from the Weis collection: bird evolution, flourite, & quartz. Many thanks to B Danz, T Green, & J Taylor for their photos & art!
My first illustration of 2026 is finished and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out so far. Now if you excuse me, I'm probably gonna go back to working on mosasaurs.
