I have personally been on the other side of an attack that used this method. It was not fun to track down.

Because it used an app to post, you can't just right click and ban the app. It's not an option. In that moment, you have no idea how posts are getting in.

Oh trust me, even to a developer they are miserable.

I plan to make more Discord auditing tools, so keep an eye out! Discord setup is something that seems to be glossed over quite a bit (in my experience).

Plus it's a safety item. That's kinda my thing you know? 😂

A post on that other site inspired me to make a new safety tool.

By default, Discord enables the "Use External Apps" permission for EVERYONE. I'm willing to bet that most servers don't even know that they're at risk.

Audit your servers. Remove this dangerous permission.

No, there is nothing that any moderator or bot can do for viewbots. The best thing I can offer is not to give it any attention at all. No mentions, no pins, no messages, just flat out ignore it. That's really all we can do.
