Yes, it’s an ITU and ISO standard. The common name for the successor will be not known until it’s ratified. In ITU, the next free number is H.267. In ISO, it will be 5-digit number, either new one or part of an existing one.
Draft Joint Call for Proposals on video compression with capability beyond VVC is available. This cryptic title defines the CfP for whatever comes after VVC, most likely will be H.267 in ITU-T terms. jvet-experts.org/doc_end_user...
