Well, if anyone else wants to try something free first, there are scripts on GitHub that mostly work, either by using your archive, or deleting much slower and more inconsistently without it.

It's more annoying to do now, after the crackdown on the API and reduced rate limits, but you can still find scripts that can import your Twitter data archive to help get around this somewhat.

If you are on the same server, you can truncate it to @username.
