Siskins wouldn't usually be in contact much with poultry. These irruptive birds are stressed and may have a compromised immune system and carry a higher load. They are also feeding and bathing en-masse so it is imperative that people clean feeders and birdbaths more often during irruptive years.

Agreed. The rewetting of bogs in Ireland is a prime example whereby Common Cranes now breed there. Spending money on restoration of habitat is a lot better way to spend money and helps a lot more species.
