For many Black women, the Target boycott is not over. It may never be. A faith leader announced the end of a yearlong “Target fast,” but many Black women who helped launch the boycott say the movement wasn’t his to call off.

We spoke to Black women who started the Target boycott & who sustained it for a yr+. They'll likely never go back.

Teacher Laverne Mickens put it like this: “[Black women] will say if & when it’s over. And I can tell you right now: That will be the 15th of never ever.”

When I saw the Mothership in the Smithsonian I am not ashamed to say that I cried. The symbolism of a chariot coming to carry us home, the scale and audacity of it, the vision to imagine Black people in the future. It meant a lot to me!

Black immigrants are about 5% of the people in ICE detention but this year they represent nearly one in five deaths. On top of a white paper towel is a small Pyrex dish containing homemade trail mix, composed of roasted and unsalted cashews, roasted and salted pumpkin seeds, roasted and shelled pistachios, and sweetened dried cranberries. March 14, 2026.

TJ’s one-pound bag of pumpkin seeds is more than what I needed for the trail mix, but they’re tasty on their own. Will probably pack them as part of my lunch next week or save them for my next batch of trail mix. Judging from my last post, one batch of trail mix lasts me about two weeks lol 😆😋 #DIY
