Today I was blessed to have lunch and conversation with the volunteer firefighters at the Oakland Volunteer Fire Company, learning about their resources and how they work each day to serve Garrett County — and beyond!

I’m proud to support the resources they need to keep Marylanders safe — as they have done since they first opened in 1894!
I am in awe of the dedication, public service commitment, and experienced professionalism demonstrated by our volunteer firefighters!
I’m proud to stand with @oagmaryland.bsky.social Anthony Brown in demanding answers.
When I visited the Baltimore ICE facility two months ago, I saw firsthand the heartbreaking conditions detainees are facing. Marylanders deserve the truth—and everyone deserves to be treated with dignity.
I will never tolerate hate speech. Muslims are our part of our American fabric - our neighbors, coworkers, friends and fellow Americans. We are all God’s children.
Republican leadership’s failure to condemn the anti-Muslim remarks of Representative’s Fine and Ogles is beyond reprehensible, and further indicates the GOP’s ever growing lack of compassion, humanity and appreciation of human dignity.

92,000+ jobs lost. Unemployment rising.
Now Donald Trump’s reckless war in Iran is sending oil and gas prices soaring—hurting families already struggling with high costs.
That’s why I’m fighting for my affordability plan to lower everyday costs and strengthen our economy for Maryland families.
This 2.5M investment will give students hands-on experience, strengthen Maryland’s biomedical ecosystem, and help train the next generation of scientists and health professionals right here in Frederick. The future of innovation starts here.
Proud to join Senator Van Hollen at Hood College to celebrate funding for the new Biomedical Research & Education Center.
Yet at this very moment, many of the rights women fought for are under attack, and cuts to critical health care and safety net programs often hit women and children the hardest. Today we honor the women who opened doors and commit to lifting up the next generation of girls in fight for equality.
And when lift up women economically and politically, families and communities thrive. And there is more world peace.
As the mother of four daughters and a lifelong advocate for women’s rights, I’m proud to celebrate International Women’s Day. As Hillary Clinton famously stated in Beijing over three decades ago, women’s rights are human rights.
So excited to cheer on Noah Grove in the Paralympic Games! Noah was born right here in Frederick, MD and lost his leg to bone cancer in 2004. He has now gone on to become a highly decorated sled hockey athlete and uses his experiences to advocate for children’s cancer awareness.
Still, I fought to deliver wins for Maryland farmers and families—including support for BARC, affordable rural broadband, conservation workforce training, and disaster recovery.

It makes historic cuts to SNAP and conservation programs while failing to address the economic strain farmers face as tariffs devastate crop markets.
I grew up in a farming family, and my father believed a good Farm Bill gives farmers the tools they need to thrive and feed our nation.
That’s why I voted NO on this bill.
Her removal is a first step, but one firing won’t fix DHS. I’ll keep fighting for real oversight, accountability, and an immigration system that reflects our security, well-being and our values.
Under her leadership, DHS has:
•Capriciously withheld valid FEMA aid from Western Maryland floods
•Authorized opening of a 1500 bed warehouse detention facility in Washington County
•Spent tax payer funds for personal media deals and political points.
Kristi Noem has done a horrific job—making our country less safe here and abroad. Her leadership has been ineffective and inhumane, which is why I have called for her impeachment.
The Constitution is crystal clear: Congress-not the President-has the sole authority to declare war. I voted YES on the War Powers resolution to reassert Congress' power and prevent our nation from being drawn into another costly, endless conflict.
Instead of focusing on bringing down costs for Americans, this Administration is spending billions on war with Iran while putting our servicemembers and allies in harm’s way.
I was proud to support my colleague @RepShriThanedar amendment, which would have reserved the elimination of this time-tested, successful program. SNAP-Ed saves healthcare costs and supports working families.
In Maryland, 640,000 residents rely on SNAP-Ed for practical nutrition guidance that helps families stretch their food dollars and build healthier habits. H.R. 1 eliminated this program, leaving SNAP-Ed families in the lurch.
The Farm Bill is an opportunity to meet the moment on rural broadband affordability—but my colleagues on the other side are failing to meet that moment. Rural America deserves the opportunity to compete and thrive.
I hear it from constituents across Western Maryland all the time: utility bills are too high and reliable broadband is still out of reach for too many families.
If we’re serious about protecting our land and supporting farmers, we must invest in community colleges, apprenticeships, and hands-on training to prepare the next generation of conservation professionals.
Farmers, conservation districts, and industry leaders are all telling us the same thing: we have a workforce shortage in conservation.
No one should be unlawfully questioned or detained.

For nearly a century, the Farm Bill has been built on a bipartisan coalition of farmers, rural communities, and advocates working together.
If we lose that unity, we risk putting politics above the needs of the people who feed and sustain our nation. We must get this Farm Bill right.
