A Great Blue Heron stands in the water on the left side of the frame in right-side profile. There are some out-of-focus ducks drifting in the background in front of the out-of-season brown march grasses at the edge fo the water.

Following an extremely unsuccessful venture out with my camera this morning during which I saw one distant squirrel and heard a single distant crow without any other animals to be found, here is a #Heron #StandingInWater from January for #BirdOfTheDay.

A stone retaining wall is in the background of the right and center of the photo, with a pile of snow covering the right side and mid-foreground. There is a chipmunk in between the snow pile and wall near the center-right of the frame beginning to emerge from behind the snow. The chipmunk is facing toward the front-left of the frame as it takes in its surroundings.

It's been a long time since I've posted something other than birds. The #chipmunks have started to emerge from their burrows, and athough it's still cold and snowy here, these periodic signs keep me hopeful that #spring is just around the corner.

Beautiful capture - I love the colors!

An American Robin sits on the thin branch of a tree in the center-left of the frame, with an abundance of berries up and down the branch. An overcast sky provides the backdrop, and the bird stands proudly on the little branch, facing toward the right of the frame.

There are bare tree branches at the top of a tree entering the frame from the left and stopping around the center-right of the frame. A crow is just above the right-most branches with its wings spread wide and beak angled slightly down toward the right, as it takes flight from the tree.

A large murder of #crows flocked into my neighborhood a few days ago. They hung around for a while, but then this one was one of the last to leave after the rest had flown off. This is the moment of takeoff, with #OpenWings.
