I realize that to people outside the PNW this is just an interesting news item, but if you're in the PNW, where tracking orca pods is a local religion, this is basically like being visited by alien gods

how ironic to see the state protect two people who sought to strip the state while working under the direction of elon musk, who has made it impossible to seek recourse when people get death threats and harassment on twitter
I thought everyone had already left the office when I decided to blast Stan Walker’s “I Am” and practice belting out the Te Reo parts. OOPS. Oh well, guess some folks know how I roll after hours in my cubicle. 😬
PWHL game - Seattles v Boston
My first PWHL game, cheering on Seattle’s new team against Boston. Go Torrent! 🏒⛸️🥅
Thanks for keeping the rest of us updated throughout the whole thing. ✊🏽 Hope you get some proper rest now!
SAME!
What's hilarious about this is that California, which is the tech and AI capital of the country, has a state income tax, the highest rate of which is 12.3% (vs 9.9% in the WA proposal), and the tax is on all income, not just income over $1 million. Yet somehow Silicon Valley is doing just fine.
This is a policy of genocide.
Compare AOC's statement to Schumer's. We desperately need to push out those ancient ineffectual Dems in charge.
they need to import this to the Stanley Cup playoffs, watching hockey players be handed stuffed animals while they seethe is the new funniest thing in the world
Had to switch to watching the Olympics closing ceremony on CBC because NBC did the stupid split-screen for an interview instead of focusing on the, you know, ceremony that everyone tuned in to watch in the first place. 😡
Seattle opera program for Fellow Travelers
Seattle premiere of Fellow Travelers! Great performance at @seattleopera.bsky.social
BREAKING: Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (formerly Prince Andrew) has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
He is accused of sharing confidential government documents with Jeffrey Epstein.
Unprecedented.
Side note: it is Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s birthday today.

Cardinal Cupich: “Today is a day that speaks to all those who live in the shadows and in secret. Our immigrant friends know what it is like to live in the shadows, fearing a knock at their door…God does not need papers to see who you are.”
Yikes, glad no one was hurt. The building next to us got evacuated. 😬 komonews.com/news/local/s...
And now it’s hailing! I don’t think my street has seen this much drama since the wind storm knocked down a huge branch a few months ago.
Fire trucks on QA Ave
7 fire trucks, 2 other SFD vehicles, and anyone parked right outside my apt (like me!) at the top of Queen Anne can’t drive off the hill
Bloomberg says we've spent $3B on Trump's invasion of Venezuela.
Which is 6X more than the cancer, Alzheimer, diabetes, and heart disease cures they've cut to pay for it.

If this country was truly “pro-life,” we would have Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, gun reform, universal child care, and a living wage.
The right-wing agenda isn’t about “life.”
It’s about control.
What’s so weird about men in power is how when they face scandal and should step down the world acts like no one else can do their jobs. Bottstein, Wasserman, these aren’t irreplaceable men! Stop with this delusion.
ICE using the same ruse that Ted Bundy used to kidnap people should tell you something.

What a great photo of Brazilian alpine skier Lucas Pinheiro Braathen, the first South American to ever win a medal at the Winter Olympic Games.
Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon.
Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.
This is was so amazing to watch. I also loved seeing the inflatable kangaroos that Aussie fans brought to cheer on the team. 😄
Seattle Rep playbill for Here There Are Blueberries
Poignant performances at Seattle Rep’s very timely production, the horrifying story of how ordinary people built Auschwitz and kept it running.
Minneapolis was economically devastated by Operation Metro Surge, writes James Beard-winning Oglala Lakota chef Sean Sherman, suffering $10-$20 million in weekly losses.
"This isn't just immigration enforcement. This is economic sabotage wrapped in racism."

I love watching the medal ceremonies and break into a grin every time the announcer says ”et champion olympique…” 🥇
It’s annoying af that NBC/Peacock is inconsistent about which ones they show 🤬so after watching hours of a sport I have to track down the ceremony on CBC or elsewhere.
Notice how the popular media narrative has moved on, while people on the ground in Minneapolis are still struggling and crying out that things are as bad as ever. This is how fascist regimes operate — overreach, recalibration, normalization. Get louder, not quieter.
Sending love, hugs, prayers and healing thoughts to our friends in Canada today after a horrific deadly mass shooting in a school in British Columbia that left 10 dead including the shooter as well as dozens more injured. I’m so sorry. 💙🙏🇨🇦
