SFF folks: if, for a certain podcast, I wanted to talk to a critic/scholar/reader about McCaffrey's PERN, who should I talk to? I know lots of folks are familiar/have thoughts, but I'm struggling to narrow it down.

Rise of social media bans is a blunt force that will harm LGBTQIA+ children, especially in rural areas If we are serious about protecting young people, we need to approach social media policy with that nuance in mind.

Social media bans are often framed as a simple safeguarding issue.

But zoom out from the cities where these decisions are being made - to places like the Welsh valleys - and the picture looks very different πŸ‘‡

The scene depicts an avian creature crouching astride a man, talons pinning him in-place on the snow ladened ground. Surrounded by the corpses of birds. A rifle can be seen on the floor in the forground.

A narrative digital piece as part of the comicbook Parliament of Rooks.

There are people out there who think it's ridiculous to say that killing 100,000 Palestinians and expelling 100,000s more from their land is a genocide, but that describing people coming to your country to work and start a family as genocide is totally reasonable.

Let me tell you something. Y’all are asking too many damn questions at every point of sale. I have to leave a comment, make a suggestion, donate to a charity, choose a method of payment three times and then multiple choice of ways to get a receipt.

Take the damn money and leave me alone.

Short fiction You can find my short fiction in magazines and anthologies, and in various places around the web. β€œThe Last Days of Don Juan Jenkins”, Cthulhu Cymraeg: The Night Country (February 2026)…

I don't have much to share this week, but maybe read one of my short stories if you're in the mood? Lots of them are free to read.

I do get quite energized by spite, so not gonna name any of the books that have made me go "Ugh, I hate this, I'm going to do my own, better version". πŸ˜…

But on the "Damn, I want to be that good" level, at the moment it's Mariana Enriquez and Gemma Files.

I feel like timeslip fantasy was huge when I was a kid, but it's not something I see much of anymore and I always appreciate it when I do. Something about the eeriness of seeing a familiar landscape slightly changed, I think.

Hello! I'm Jess, a writer of dark specfic from South Wales.

I love a good necklace but hate the feeling of actually having something around my neck, so it's an eternal struggle. I do have a fidget ring I wear all the time, but that's more necessity than fashion.

It's your chance to support our very own Trip Galey's brand-new queer AF post-apocalyptic science-fantasy novel set in a world full of drag balls, weird science, magic, and...GASP!...Polari!!

We can't wait to see how this turns out.🧐

🚨 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.

This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.

Please spread the word.

The pipeline from "this makes me uncomfy" to "this is not allowed to exist" is dangerous and REAL. There is value in sitting with discomfort and confronting/unpacking your own biases. People are so afraid of their own "icky" feelings that they would destroy art and other people to remain "safe."

It's time.

Colin, the comrade running the shelter-in-place food program I'm working at, told me that this week he's had to turn down asks from schools to supply food directly to their sheltering families. The reason? There's not enough money coming in for that amount of food.

Let's change that.
