A vidid red amaryllis on a long green stalk against a black background. Three of the four blooms are now open, within the centre of two of which we can see the filaments of the stamens and pistils - which are the male and female parts used to create seeds - I just found out! lol. It takes five years to create a new bulb, so with three bulbs two of which have produced multiple stalks, and one with a pup, growing, I will just put those into hibernation this fall and enjoy again next year.

Today's #Amaryllis progress from a 2nd stalk this winter, three of the buds now in full bloom. I just discovered if I cut the filaments from the centre, the male and female part that create seeds, the bloom will last longer. Dunno, if I wanna.

In keeping with the progress of my late blooming #Amaryllis from a surprisingly late 2nd stalk this winter, two of the buds are in full bloom.

On a cold drizzly Vancouver day, it is so nice to have such vibrant colour adorning the windowsill.

Popping out of its green cocoon, a bright ruby red amaryllis flower is emerging, but still in a semi closed state. The image is artistic, taken in portrait mode, so has a black background and makes the thin mint green stem leading on to a lighter green shell of a leaf with the two red buds rising tall from above almost looks like a dance.

Without sunlight otherwise red amaryllis can grow in white, stalk an' all. If so, work up to strong light on a sunny windowsill & they will eventually get colour. When flowers die, water leaves until Sep to retain photosynthesis energy then cut off the wilt, hibernate 8wks, repot, then sunny window.

The Internet suggests if its not a white amaryllis then it just needs sun after the dormancy period. During summer the leaves get all the photosynthesis energy & stores it in the bulb, when you stop watering in Sep, and it wilts, cut it down, & put in a dark space for 2 mths then put in sunny place.

This one is in its 2nd year & when it started sprouting this one looked like the beginning of a leaf when the 1st stalk grew & bloomed, after that wilted, this one, to my surprise, was actually a 2nd stalk, and has shot up. The bulb is now growing leaves too. Apparently they can get multiple stalks.

A graffiti covered, and I mean covered, everything in a restaurant bathroom, the wall, a shelf unit, everything contains writing in different coloured pens,with barely any room to stick a pin. The shelf has a few white towels in it and what appears to be an air freshener sitting on top. There is a fire alarm and what I think are spotlights clustered together near the ceiling. Ther eis also some kind of form attached to the wall with what appears to be a list of something or other.

A sumptuously furnished room containing ostentatious furnishings from another era, mirrors set in wood frames, 3 round tables one with a white tablecloth, a Cheetah rug on top of a blue and gold what I believe might be called an Oriental rug that fills most of the floor. There is a chandelier, soft furnishings with heavy drapes at the windows and a view through a door to another room.

They will all have great foliage through summer, and you can keep them outside. When the leaves yellow after you stop watering, cut down, take bulb out of soil, put into dormancy for it to reserve its energy, and then in Nov/Dec bring back out, and partially set bulb in high-quality potting mix.

The one on the left had great foliage all last year by watering all summer on the deck when the top soil was dry. Stopped watering in Sep for leaves to wilt, cut them off, put the bulb on its own (no soil) into dormancy within a dark, cool cupboard (8–12 wks, but I did 6 cos' I saw it had woken up.

The top contains a bud about to open to produce flowers for the 2nd time this year. The middle bulb was an award winning species that already had two flower stalks this year, but has now produced a "pup" - a baby bulb, if you like, and is starting to grow its leaves. The tall leaves of the one of the right, now that its flowers have gone, has transformed into a resplendent fan shape which will last all summer, before they all go into dormancy in September getting ready to do it all again next winter.

Here they are now courtesy of the plant that keeps on giving as the one on the left from 2 Christmases ago is about to bloom YET AGAIN while the middle one has a large "pup" & this year's foliage is stunning.

Taken from below, this looks like a time-honoured curved, low building that appears to be a part of the moss covered carved cliffside it is built upon. There are five windows in a row in the middle of it and appearing out of place above these, is a massive white sign with red capital letters that read "CASINO." Leafy trees shoot out from behind the structure on the right and in the middle, while over at the left there is a cluster of palm trees.
