Stubborn, Stupid, Rich … yet strangely Charismatic
This is rare but a clearly pernicious combination of characteristics…

The only story on Fox News currently about the tariffs. 4th story down. It’s just a bizarro world vortex.
I do this regularly as well. And it is always sobering. Fox News just presents a completely different world.
I don’t know how we break out of echo chambers and back to rationale debate. 😞
literally ZERO eggs available at Boston area Whole Foods yesterday:
“We are currently experiencing difficulty sourcing eggs that meet our strict animal welfare standards.”
I do not think this will end well for Musk… does the Tesla board actually have the guts to do what’s right for shareholders?

Vermont!!! ⚽️🏆
taking this app seriously enough to go for the fancy self hosted handle - I wonder what % of accounts overall do?
Congrats to @bluesky for all the new users
My 2 cents. Find every news source the has an RSS feed or equivalent and create accounts that that show their public deeds on here under @johndoetimesfeed
That way we all get access to news without having to wait for them to create accounts first.
so does @bsky.app actually have a "no bot" policy? more generally, a suggestion for @bsky.app is to have a bit more information on the main landing page about how this, while similar to Xitter, is also different in a,b,c etc
I have Apple fanboi tendencies…
But Screen Time is crap. And it’s always been crap.
How many millions of unsupervised hours have kids spent using devices without their parents’ knowledge?
I’m no lawyer…but seems like there are legit damages here

Also when will this app start rendering link previews??

This is a crazy story and great reporting by @nytimes.com… It’s also quite a referendum on Amazon’s lack of quality control systems.

❗️Not Enough Resources
… that’s like BlueSky version of the good ol’ Fail Whale I guess…just way less cute and endearing
“social media” tech / UX is basically a commodity at this point (except perhaps recommendation engines) …
the experience really will flow downhill from the incentives. Threads is fine … but ultimately Meta just wants to “drive engagement” which really is a code phrase for looking at more ads
I appreciate that post, but it’s a bit evasive about what the parameters for becoming “sustainable” are. IMHO the “original sin” of the internet was targeted advertising as the primary business model.
So what is the business / operating model for Bluesky? Something other than advertising, ultimately?
The article suggestions are solid … but the article reading experience is a let down as it’s just a web view and the same old same old - inline ads and video overlays etc
