This is sad. Even sadder is that in 2024, white women still voted 51% Trump.
Compare this to 89% of Black women voting for Harris.
Itβs almost as if one group understood where this administration was going π

Prediction markets (like Polymarket, Kalshi), especially when there is a tie-in to crypto currency seem problematic. I donβt understand how itβs not considered gambling. Also, it seems itβs prone to the equivalent of insider trading.
All in all I see this as another wart in our society.

I just had to rebuild our internal web site. There is a 13 GB node modules folder.
In 1996 Quake was 50 MB. I could do networking, complex 3D rendering and sound.
30 years later we need 13 GB and still struggle to center a div across two browsers.
Web development is obscene.

This video makes me extremely happy. Dianna Cowern (AKA Physics Girl) was diagnosed with long COVID, with symptoms similar to ME/CFS. She is basically bedridden. Seeing her active and excited is amazing β€οΈ

And this is precisely why Iβve always said that itβs a shame that the US doesnβt officially recognize the ICC.
You canβt claim to be the worldβs police and simultaneously say youβre above criticism.
On second thought: that also feels very much on brand for the way the US sees police.

Everything in the article gels with my perception of Sinofsky and my experience while working on Windows 8. His comments afterwards on Twitter underlined it again. That said, didnβt think he was close to Epstein though. Just wow.

How Jeffrey Epstein Ingratiated Himself With Top Microsoft Executives

I could say itβs harder for me because I have family. But I think the honest truth is that Iβm too much of a coward.

Think about it. Ask yourself what things youβre actively looking for. And most importantly do the prep work. Research countries. Know the visa process. Maybe have savings.

Itβs not alarmist to define your line. Itβs very rational. Especially so because if the inconceivable happens, itβs difficult to act sanely because the pressure is suddenly dialed to 11 and time is of the essence.

And itβs the same pattern: people think it wonβt happen until it does and suddenly itβs hard to leave, mostly because it requires prep work and many others want to leave too.

At the risk of sounding alarmist, but it is worthwhile contemplating where your own red line is that would make you seriously consider leaving the country.

Who is on helmet that led to Ukrainian athlete's disqualification from Winter Olympics?
Vladyslav Heraskevych's helmet depicts fellow athletes who have been killed since Russia's full-scale invasion of his country.
You should find out who the people are that Vladyslav Heraskevych chose to commemorate. Some of them were children.
There was no political message on his helmet other than that these people mattered. Apparently thatβs too much for the IOC. Or maybe that it wasnβt designed by Leni Riefenstahl.

IOC under fire over Nazi-era Olympic Games t-shirt | CNN
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has been slated for selling merchandise commemorating the 1936 Berlin games which Hitler used to showcase his hate-filled ideology.
The IOC disqualified a Ukrainian athlete for showcasing photographs of Ukrainian athletes killed by Russia.
Meanwhile, Russian/Belarusian are allowed to complete under neutral status. An Italian athlete openly showed a Russian flag.
I guess we shouldnβt be surprised:
