THE TAKEOVER IN BEANTOWN!!!
Julius had a big series against the Lakers. I always had my criticisms about his game, but I always felt that last season was going to be a breakthrough. I'm glad heβs doing it out in Minnesota.
No doubt. I do believe the offense can be better on this team (as well as other things). But yesterdayβs game was guys missing shots and no creating for one another.
Speaking my language, Lori.
Great point. The Pistons have lost big leads in the fourth quarter of every game of the series. I wish they wouldnβt. Saw it coming with this last one. They had control of the game when Brunson went down. He came and turned up the heat and the Pistons didnβt answer. Blame the refs? Nah.
Everyone is talking about the last call of the Knicks-Pistons game. But no one is holding the Pistons accountable for blowing an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter and allowing the Knicks to be in that moment.
Never leave the game in the hands of the refs.
Depends on who Horford is out on the court with. If Horford is out there with KP, I could see an issue.
Yes, but I donβt think itβll be drastic. Brown likes to get downhill, and with Mitch guarding the paid, it wonβt be as easy.
But the best part about a series is that both teams have to try and be perfect. And last night, we saw that the Celtics have their flaws against NYβs two-big lineup. (4/4)
I know a lot of the conversation will be how the Knicks need to execute better and focus on the details, which I highly agree with. The execution in the fourth and OT were frustrating to watch, and part of that is on Thibs. (3/4)
Of course, you need KAT to play with last nightβs mindset to have success. But we saw a formula that the Celtics were frustrated with. (2/4)
π§΅
From last nights battle with the Celtics, my biggest takeaway is that you can use the two big lineup and find a lot of success. The Knicks looked dominant with KAT and Mitch on the floor. KAT was a mismatch offensively and Mitch deterred a lot of players from attacking the paint. (1/4)
I'm sure he's feeling the heat from both the coaching staff and the media over them 6 shots. I highly doubt he'll have the same approach in the playoffs. It would be hell for him every day if he did. We've seen what kind of player he can be.
To me, low quality would be teams that are not competing at all (Wizards, Hornets, currently the Raptors, and so forth).
Portland plays tough and theyβre looking to improve for the next seasonβI believe theyβll make the play-in.
But I agree with being consistent in evaluating the team.
With that said, things could change in the postseason. But letβs keep in mind that Bridges is under a massive microscope because of the amount of draft picks spent to get him. 4/4
Itβs certainly frustrating when there are moments youβre looking for Bridges to step up, and he doesnβt. And since we have a pretty good sample size throughout this season, thatβs why Iβm coming to terms with who he is as a player. 3/4
If Bridges isnβt the guy who can elevate this team to the next level because of his inconsistency against top-end teams, thatβs on the front office for their poor assessment. 2/4
I have to share this 𧡠here because I was @βed on X:
Iβve been pretty critical of Bridges this entire season (and Iβve given him his flowers when he deserves it). The fact of the matter is, itβs not his fault five picks were sent out to get him. The front office made that decision. 1/4
I donβt think Portland is low-quality. Theyβre a good, young, tough team that clearly gives the Knicks some trouble.
To answer your question, playing lesser competition somewhat inflates the team's performance. But the reps are essential regardless.
Every Knick starter scored with 5 minutes remaining in the game. That's how NY should close games when Brunson returns.
Brunson is fantastic in the clutch, but you want to keep defenses honest and have them guessing when time is running out. Also, NY shouldnβt overextend JB.
After tonightβs performance, Mikal earned more minutes from Thibs.
We can talk about KAT and Brunson, who were great tonight. But McBride was critical. His play and energy can shift momentumβthink about how deflating that three-pointer he made in OT with a hand in his face. These types of performances can change a playoff series.
