Although the Avengers have lost Gamora and BlackWidow in Vormir, they eventually won against Thanos. In the real world, sea turtles are still struggling to survive in the LMPN, which could be due to beach pollution, marine debris ingestion, vessel strikes, and trawling.
Founded and coordinated by Dr. Larissa Barreto, a professor for the Department of Oceanography & Limnology at UFMA, the QUEAMAR Project (Aquatic Chelonians of Maranhão) conducts multiple research lines with sea turtles and freshwater turtles in the state of Maranhão.
The majority of them, unfortunately, are found dead.
The LMNP is regulated by ICMBio, the Chico Mendes Institute of Biodiversity Conservation. With about 70 kilometers of beach extension, monthly monitoring is performed to rescue alive sea turtles and catalog those that already have died stranded.
During rainy season, the valleys among the dunes fill with freshwater lagoons, prevented from draining due to the impermeable rock beneath. The park is home to a range of species, including some that are classified as endangered, and it is a popular destination for tourists.
The Lençóis Maranhenses National Park is located in Maranhão, a state in northeastern Brazil. It is considered the largest dune field in South America and it was also part of the seven natural wonders shortlist for a while.

Later, in Avengers: Endgame, it is where BlackWidow sacrifices herself after her fight with Hawkeye for the same purpose.
Vormir is first seen in the movie Avengers: Infinity War. Filmed by BSP Brazil, images of the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park were used to create, along with computer graphics, the planet where Thanos takes his daughter Gamora and gets the Soul Stone.
