Starting to be convinced that CENTCOM hasn't been doing anything but going to hockey games on the regular, because they definitely weren't doing their jobs

I wouldn't order DoorDash based off DIA work.
If this keeps up long enough, that'll end up with more oil drilling in places that weren't cost effective before too, right?
also like: it is not just oil production that is affected by this - air transport and even agriculture is going to be negatively shaped by the strait of hormuz being closed
Ahh, but no one is more ethical than her, so whatever she does is totes fine
Who could possibly have foreseen that war on Iran would (a) make Iran retaliate by closing the strait of Hormuz, which (b) could disrupt world oil markets, enriching Russia and penalizing most everyone else?
Who, indeed, except EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER THOUGHT FOR ONE MINUTE about the situation.
Disney’s Hercules (1997) would beg to differ.
Evangelicals be normal about Disney challenge
Difficulty: impossible
they say you cannot mix faith and Disney.
the string of attacks this morning on shipping in hormuz feels like iran proving that they can still keep the strait closed

Helluva way to run a war, as the NYT reports. But the article doesn’t go far enough. WHY are his aides terrified of telling Trump the truth? Because the commander-in-chief is not OK in the head, that’s why. These reporters should say it instead of covering it up. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/10/u...
Anyway I love that they're acting like how Iran is holding the Strait out of the 500 cheap, obvious, and super simple methods to do it is a big secret, all because none of them can identify a chokepoint on a map.
"how many carrier battle groups are you moving into position first to defend the Strait of Hormuz? Is the answer 'all of them' because if it's not you need a new plan"
Also if you had said "hey we're gonna bomb Iran" to any of the thousands of former or current sailors who have transited the Strait, down to a damn Boatswain's Mate we all would have said "what's the plan for the Strait of Hormuz?"
Also the first decent sized ship sunk in the Strait is going to be a giant hazard to navigation. Like if I were Iran and in full on "fuck the global economy" mode I'd tow a derelict out there and blow a hole in it and walk away.
I cannot stress enough how narrow the channel is in the Strait and the fact that like. Two guys with a bass boat, a shoulder mounted rocket launcher, and a decent sense of determination could hold the thing for long enough for 6 more bass boats with 12 more guys to show up and fuck up your day.
...any of the thousands of US Navy members current and former who have transited the Strait of Hormuz while Iran trolled the ship for shits and giggles can describe for you at least 3 ways they can close the Strait without attending any briefing.
Yeah, bringing outside foods into a restaurant is such a culture faux pas in the US that people will risk anaphylactic allergies rather than bring their own food to a restaurant
I once went into work instead of taking hurricane pay because at least the power was on and there was AC, only to have Scandinavian tourists throwing a tantrum that everything but the mall was closed because of the aforementioned hurricane the day before.
Americans aren't the only ones who refuse to learn other languages and then get mad when you don't understand them.
My mid-take is despite ::waves hands:: the US is not the world's most toxic brand because tourist locales are focused on the people who make their day to day jobs hell and overall that isn't Americans. (I'm not going into the covid-ness of it all)
I spent enough time working retail in an international tourist town to say that American tourists who come here are way down my list of Worst Tourists.
uh this thing isn’t near the (Iranian part of the) strait, are they just hitting general traffic now
Ready to take what the Trump regime did vis-à-vis Iran and transpose it to a public health context — applying a “what’s the worst that can happen” approach to viruses that don’t care about our big, American feelings?
simply frabjous
Thanks to this saga, Facebook has started showing me reels of cruise influencers singing the praises of megaships as so big that they're not affected by waves and you can barely tell you're on a boat. They're destroying nature because they don't actually want to get close to nature.
That's the reality of environmental destruction that cruise influencers won't tell you as they extoll the wonders of cruises as floating megamalls (laudatory).
