They can run goddamn Rocket League on these things?

You know whats fuckin crazy? How anti-black this whole planet is.

We didnt colonize the world enslaving people everywhere, arent the architects of the exploitation, didnt nuke anyone, dont run the billionaire pedophile rings.

But everyone has slurs for us they gleefully use while eating up our art

They are so desperate for it to be real and leading to the magic future/justifying all of their misanthropy that they will come up with any and every wild justification to rationalize it. Its so pathetic

None of it outweighs the harms, and none of the big ones people use were built without large scale theft of other peoples hard work. All of it comes with a ridiculous high error/slop rate, because it's just powered by statistics. Quit the whining

"The male gaze" is supposed to be about where and the way the camera lingers, and the types of bodies it will linger on goddamnit. The kids keep just getting prudish about everything its driving me insane

WE are the system outside of the computer harder making it do "more." No self-organized system like the biology which produces intelligence is doing some abstract other processes. That is pure dualistic nonsense, as if a platonic spirit is being invoked by physical activity.

09.03.2026 20:18 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Don't get trapped in the dualistic thinking that the computer is doing something outside of the physical processes is performing. The computer isn't "computing", WE are, when we use it and pretend it the presence of voltage means something else, and use it to generate pictures in lights on screens.

09.03.2026 20:18 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

You cant make a picture (simulation) of intelligence that will then be intelligent, any more than a picture of food will make a meal. Its not an abstract computational process. Every single thing any single cell does is a biochemical, physical action. Math cannot do even the simplest things cells do

09.03.2026 20:05 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

The point is that the dynamism that leads to intelligence is IN the physical interactions and the transformations. Its not merely computation. There isnt an 'if-else" conditional they do in an abstract sense. The "if-else" of Na+Cl is to produce actual salt, which will do other tangible things after

The end of your post the EXACT reason why I brought up the simulation of the sun. "Governed by the physical limitation of the hardware" it was those exact limitations that I was pointing out. It does not matter how much information you have or how powerful your calculations get.

09.03.2026 19:49 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

One reason for intractability, is not having the formulas for the biochemical processes and their interactions to even draw the picture in the first place. You have to already know the thing and have it fully quantified first and we dont have that.

09.03.2026 19:43 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Simulate what, to do what? Because you have to remember that a simulation is basically using mathematical calculations to draw a picture of something. Its a description of a thing, not actually doing the thing.

09.03.2026 19:43 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

3. What are you actually trying to say is computable? The processes are quantifiable, sure, but computable? How is chemistry computable
4. I was going to justify the claims as part of the back and forth instead of an infodump. Calling basic physics and chem "strong claims about reality" is funny.

09.03.2026 19:32 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

1. Thread started from a critique of their argument about dynamic systems, I was adding in what their argument was trying to get to but wasn't quite making it.
2. Biology is the only example we have, of course its necessary because people trying to recreate it dont know what they actually trying to

09.03.2026 19:32 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

The point is that the mathematical arguments don't matter anyway when trying to replicate a capacity exhibited by biology (intelligence), assuming that capacity is computable. I'm skipping the quibbling about tractability and getting to the heart of why the type of dynamism necessary isnt possible

09.03.2026 19:20 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Your reasoning stems from a profound misunderstanding of how biology works and what it is actually doing and I'm pointing out why. A system is what it does, its not a representation. WE, human beings, use the systems as a representation to assist symbol manipulation tasks, but the system itself isnt

09.03.2026 19:11 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Nah answer the question. Or how about this one, are your mathematical calculations producing actual chemical elements that physically interact with the world?

09.03.2026 19:07 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

If you make a simulation of the sun, does that make your computer a fusion generator that can now power your home?

Just saw a guy say β€œso Im neurotypical, and I just do stuff. Theres not really a gap between thinking about doing something and starting to do it” and it was both validating and also pissed me off real good.

Cuz wtf you mean you just automatically do shit.
