Ouch - Canada's #OvershootDay is the unfortunate rebuttal to anyone under the illusion that Canada is a global sustainability leader.
The good news is that we have lots of room to improve, and there are many simple things we could do. Worth pondering!

Wow - Pierre Poilievre demonstrates that he is still clueless about climate, still living in the last century, and still a politician I would NEVER vote for.

Wouldn't this be a dream come true: having fossil fuel companies & executives pay for climate damage since they've known all along fossil fuels are the cause; & having a #GlobalWealthTax on the obscenely rich, who couldn't spend all their money if they tried? www.theguardian.com/environment/...

In our system, money makes things happen and lack of money prevents things from happening.
It's RRSP season - so why not choose sustainable investments to ensure your money is funding good things, not bad ones? More info and tips here: changeyourcorner.com/this-rrsp-se...

Wow - Bjorn Lomborg, an economist (not climate scientist) who has long been the darling of the climate denial movement, now surfaces in the Epstein files.
I suppose it underlines that if you're morally corrupt, that corruption isn't limited to one file.

Very pleased to share that I'll be joining Vanessa Vander Valk on #CBCRadio #ShiftNB every second Monday this winter to talk energy.
Our first chat airs January 19, about peak power. (Spoiler: many think it's just a utility problem, but it has huge implications for every NBer.) #cbcnewbrunswick

So pleased to be returning to #UNB again today to present to all final year engineers. Topic: the challenges of climate change, and the opportunities our energy transition offers. It's one of my favourite audiences, because of the critical roles engineers will play in decarbonizing our world.

So - what was the carbon footprint of last summer's epic 16,000 km cross-Canada EV road trip? And how does it compare to doing the trip with a gas vehicle like a Civic sedan or an F-150 pickup? Finally got to doing the math; some interesting results here: changeyourcorner.com/the-carbon-f...

The suicidal insanity of non-stop growth
The planet offers everything we need to survive and thrive, but not if we continue to wastefully exploit it.
If you want to learn what's at the absolute root of our climate crisis and can handle blunt honesty: it's the notion of exponential growth in a finite world - the very principle that underpins our economic thinking.
A good read, if you're ready for blunt. davidsuzuki.org/story/the-su...

As Coal Fades, Australia Looks to Realize Dream of 100% Renewable Energy
The country’s grid operator says shifting from coal to clean power is not only possible but inevitable. The work there could provide a road map for other countries.
“When you’re determined to say how best to go about this, as opposed to why it’s hard or why it doesn’t work, the solutions appear.”
Let's leapfrog over new fossil fuel projects and get working on the future we need - renewables with backup.
