Sweden’s about to more-than-double its work permit salary threshold. Most Swedes don’t realize this affects ~50k immigrants already working here.

That the figure gets updated annually seems especially cruel. Maybe you clear the bar now, but your permit’s up for renewal in a year. What will 80% of the median be then? And will they decide to bump it to 100% by then?
@emmalofgren.bsky.social Q for you: is it possible that, because the work permit salary threshold has been pegged to a value based on the median Swedish salary, the government’s run afoul of discrimination law? (Eg because it negatively affects women)
