The Rental Ripoff Hearings are focused on bigger-picture reforms – like shaping how the City tracks and responds to all 311 calls. Hearings will also have an on-site resource fair where agencies can help with individual issues. Can I sign up if I live in a NYCHA building? Everyone is welcome to attend and share their experiences. NYCHA senior staff will be on site to answer questions and help public housing residents file service requests. The topic of these hearings, & the subsequent report with recommendations, focuses on issues under HPD, DOB, and DCWP’s jurisdictions — agencies that oversee privately owned housing and the relationship between landlords and tenants as consumers. In the coming months, our administration will release a housing plan to improve housing quality across the City — including public housing.
