We saw βGood luck, Have Fun, Donβt Dieβ the other day, and I need to recommend it to everyone. Insanely fun (though dark), very appropriate for the times, and how can you not love Sam Rockwell?
The best Iβve seen this year so far.
Some random person at an event today βrecognizedβ me and said βyou used to tweet a lot, no?β
Yes. Yes, I did. π #RIPTwitter
"when Trump announced the idea of tariffs to address the trade deficit... every economist around the country said: That's a very bad idea, that won't work....
If you look at 2025 as a whole, we have basically the same trade deficit...
So I'm going to score this one for the economist, mate."
Dat me! In the middle of the Economics Research Mesa (?)
Reposting this from the other site just because itβs too good not to share.

Watched the half-time show with a bunch of Chilean friends. Everyone was a little touched. That was absolutely wonderful π₯

I feel this is a common sentiment (from my experience with my highly-selected friend group), but how many now canβt stand Chalamet?
(For me it happened during the press tours for βA Complete Unknownβ, but he has gotten worse, no? Heβs going into Austin Butler territory for me.. with better acting).
It was a great season and Williams is just starting. See you in September. #DaBearsπ

Thereβs a paradox around remote work. Jamie Dimon says it will kill productivity, while startups are hiring for remote roles. Who is right?
With Abhinav Gupta and Elena Simintzi we try to resolve this dispute

I was going to make a joke about the Times New Roman/Calibri situation, but then I remembered that I, too, take fonts extremely seriously.
Movie youβve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.
Offenders from different socio-demographic groups receive different sentences. This appears to violate the principle of equality under law.
However, this may be explained by differences in the nature and circumstances of the crimes performed. I.e the different sentences may be 'warranted'.

(cont.) an RCT useful. If youβre take was βwe shouldnβt run an RCT without _credible_ evidence from a DD, RD, or IV, etc.β, Iβd maybe understand it (but still disagree). Using obs data for hypothesis generation I think itβs useful and might even be more efficient than the current status quo.
Yes, clearly the disagreement is where the bar is. Iβm just finding it difficult to reconcile your take on βevidence can come from a mouse study or personal experiencesβ vs βassociations are not enoughβ. Both are clearly NOT robust causal evidence, but they do provide info that may warrant (cont.)
Yes, we do, but I guess I just disagree with the bar youβve placed to run an RCT. I think there are settings where robust causal evidence is not possible, but you have an interesting model in mind that you want to test out. Also, if the hypothesis is interesting, null results are also v. important!
