Looking at history, you realize how stubbornly people keep stepping on the same rake with astonishing regularity. Reading memoirs about such times, I couldn't understand: "How? Why did no one understand?" Now I see it for myself.

At the end of the 19th century, artists turned genre paintings into almost a slogan. It was a statement about a world without hypocrisy, sometimes mockingly. I look at genre paintings now and they look like advertisements for clothing, drinks, or lifestyles. There's no idea there.

Psychology says that if you repeat something, it becomes your belief... but look around. People often utter clichés that are necessary in this society, and perhaps they believe them, but the artificiality of these lifeless slogans is immediately apparent, whether they realize it or not.

I have a strong dissonance towards my drawings. Sometimes I draw something easily, without thinking, and then because of this ease, I devalue such work. As if something valuable should always be difficult for a person.

I rethought my work and realized it really says little about the connections between people. These are stories about one person, but he is not part of society. This person has become the embodiment of the forces of nature. This was a revelation for me. #art
