affirmations for the artists and the sickos. you will not feel bad about using references or 3d models in a time when the most rat faced soulless tech ceos are burning billions of dollars and trees for a slop machine that they will call art with their whole fucking chest
Our Draw Steel TTRPG character trackers are finally completed and available on our Etsy shop, link in bio.
Literature is also an art, and attempts at generating a hierarchy of mediums where one must be described in terms of another to be seen as legitimate is one of many cultural deaths.
Also, genre need not always to examine or break down tropes associated with that genre. Batman is not principally about rehabilitating billionaires, the money is just a vehicle for the action, like the Doctor's Tardis isn't usually about true time travel, it's just a way to get him into trouble.
Good rendering can cover for clear storytelling, but it can't surpass it.
Unironically probably picking this guy up just because he's a gross little mutant dinosaur and I love him already.
I love that toys are getting drool effects now. That's innovating in the space. That's setting the bar. Give your monsters and dinosaurs some spittle.
Closing out my game art post series, saving one of the best for last.
Star War Galaxies
33" x 45" Oil on Panel 2003
Channeled quite a bit of passion into this piece, visualizing a young Han Solo and Chewbacca as an advertising piece for the video game..
Sorry to hear that, dude. Hoping it gets better, whatever's going on.
Yes, and also I've seen so many dudes who want their partners to also basically be therapists so I'm always a bit skeptical of the idea men aren't just the same in terms of need and are just socialized way differently.
Like, look, Guy Ritchie will probably never top the one-two punch of Lock/Stock and Snatch. And it sucks to knock out two of your best that early. But that's ok. If he can turn in a Man from Uncle once every 5-10yrs, that's still a better catalog than most directors.
Seems like Guy really wanted to do another one of 'them Man from Uncle movies and was forced to just make up a bunch of new shit instead.
This is fine. Let's do that. Man from Uncle was delightful.
For me, that ALIEN adaptation by Walt (and the deeply-missed Archie Goodwin) was a masterclass in how comics worked, published when I was still in college, 14 years before my own book about comics came out.
"Oh." as though they've just audibly shat themselves.
Then there are the true freaks who remember you from your time in the comic book mines.
Daylight savings remains bullshit btw.
I'm not but I can learn.
I love how even Lee cracks at it. EIGHT STONE!?
Compliments of @cheshirecat.bsky.social
Sorry, but if your friends don't randomly send you a playlist of every Bob Mortimer appearance on Would I Lie to You, you have trash friends.
You can rebuild.
You can find happiness again.
It might take a long time but you can do this.
If you are struggling mentally or are in a dark place let this be a small check point to say, it does get better.
In 2023-24 I had some of the worst depression of my life. I felt like my entire career was gone as Twitter died, but more and more I keep noticing how much I’ve improved since then.
Swolla the Hutt.
This is one of the most "they knew exactly what they were doing" things in Star Wars since Darth Talon.
Like all genre properties, the longer they go the freakier pervs they cater to. It's the second law of genredynamics.
Ooh I have an unpopular opinion about that Chalamet quote and it's probably not the one people would guess from knowing my interests...
Yeah. You can't necessarily excise the part of yourself that loved a thing when you were younger, or loves a thing now for idiosyncratic reasons, but you don't have to trap yourself in that perspective.
I appreciate the humor of the universe casting a dude who looks like shitty Lex Luthor in this role, at least.
