No Washingtonian should have to choose between keeping the lights on and putting food on the table

That changes when I am Mayor. I will fight to make utilities affordable, hold AI data centers accountable for their energy consumption, and make sure the people overseeing these decisions actually work for us..
Feeling squeezed every time you open your utility bill? I hear you and I see you. DC has the highest energy cost spike in the nation, and our own regulatory agency has not been doing its job holding Pepco accountable.
DC residents paid for this study with their tax dollars. District law required it to be released years ago. It never should have been withheld from the public.
As Mayor, I will be transparent with DC residents β even when I disagree with a policy.
Thank you to former Ward 7 Council Member Yvette Alexander for opening her doors, bringing our neighbors together, and choosing to stand with me on this journey and for a People First DC.
Iβve been the leader that shows up for our working people. If I say Iβm going to do something, I get it done. My first year in elected office, I found the funding to support a librarian in every DC public school.
When we stand shoulder to shoulder and fight together for fair wages, safe job sites, and dignity for working people, thereβs nothing we canβt accomplish. Weβre just getting started.
Iβm honored to earn the endorsement of the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, my 9th union endorsement.
Union carpenters shape this city every single day, laying the foundations, framing the walls, and building the spaces where our communities come alive. And now theyβre helping build the future we deserve.
Have a great week, and letβs keep going!
Special thanks to the DJs π
Iβm grateful to everyone who opened their homes, clubs, and community spaces to host me. Campaigns are built in living rooms, backyards, at birthday parties, and in the places where neighbors gather and look out for one another.
This past weekend, we partied at Transmission, participated in the DC Women In Politics forum, spent time with family in community, celebrated International Womenβs Day at Zooz, and held several meet & greets! We talked, laughed, listened, and danced!
β€οΈ @janeese4dc.bsky.social focus on kids & youth: need for universal child care & places and spaces for youth, after school programs, and addressing the dearth of school nurses, social workers, psychologists, & to do this leverage local universities, increase pay for caregiving jobs, etc.
It's a good day to support @janeese4dc.bsky.social ! π Happy International Women's Day!
Women for Janeese.
Erin and Christy.
A full room listens to Janeese speak with moral clarity and courage.
No better way to spend International Womenβs Day than in support of @janeese4dc.bsky.social. From curbing maternal mortality to supporting paid family leave and universal childcare to a living wage and affordable and safe, stable, and secure housing, Janeese honors the labor of women and caretakers.

I wouldnβt be standing here today if not for two incredible women: my mother and my grandmother.
I carry their lessons with me. To lift as we climb. To make a way out of no way.
Happy International Women's Day!
They remind us that our strength multiplies when we move together. As we continue to make space where there is none and believe in possibilities before the world catches up, may we walk with the same grace. May we lead with the same courage. And may we always remember to lift as we climb.
They carried out quiet acts of sisterhood and demonstrated grace in classrooms, kitchens, courtrooms, and community meetings.Β Β They showed us that excellence and compassion can live in the same breath.
Womenβs history is an opportunity to celebrate the women who laid the foundation for where we are today.Β Β These women, and so many others, carried a vision and led with conviction even when the path was uncertain.
This moment is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create real citywide change, and together we can make it happen.
Itβs stable housing, good jobs, strong neighborhoods, and resources that meet people where they are.
Iβm running for mayor to put people first across all 8 wards and to fight for the future DC deserves.
DC residents are feeling the squeeze, from rising housing costs to the childcare crisis, and safety remains a priority for every community. Safety isnβt just the absence of violence, itβs the presence of care.
Thank you to everyone who came out to Shanklin Hall tonight for this conversation with Ward 1. It was powerful to be in a room with neighbors who care deeply about the future of our city. Your energy, questions, and commitment to DC are what make moments like this so meaningful.
Everything that I do including how I lead, all circles back to being a social engineer. Iβm grateful to Howard Law for the hustle they instilled in me and the knowledge they imparted on me β€οΈπ.

I choose every day to be a social engineer, to use what I learned at Howard Law to make policies that put people first.
Iβve been proud to do that every day as a council member and Iβm proud to continue doing it as your future mayor.
At Howard Law, Dean Charles Hamilton Houston would always say βA lawyer is either a social engineer or a parasite to societyβ and that stuck with me.
Are yβall ready? We have a fun lineup of ways to get involved in the campaign this weekend. You can register through the link in our bio for any of them.
Requiring the release of police body-camera footage and documentation of federal officers' use of force is absolutely vital for us to protect our neighbors. This is a first and necessary step. We must also end MPD cooperation with ICE.
