Dipping my toes over here from the cesspit X and trying to find my people again. I loathe Brexit, flag waving misogynistic right wingers, liver, kidney & sushi. Loves animals, red wine, bees & kind people.

It's as if the US has watched Brexit and decided to do similar, but in HD.

Good morning and Happy Saturday to everyone who agrees that it's time for EVERYONE to wake up to the hard, cold truth that the richest man on the planet does NOT give a fuck about us, he only cares about himself.

Stop falling for his bullshit.

Watching Elmo come undone in real time has made X bearable. I'm loving the take downs on there at the moment.

After a couple of weeks off X, yesterday I popped on to have a look. Elmo has really lost his marbles & it's frightening to see how low that platform has gone.

It's the first thing I say to anyone who voted for Brexit. It's bloody obvious.

Starmer makes a point often missed about ending freedom of movement.

Migration figures were lower when we were in the EU. Because Europeans could live, work, study in the UK for as long as they wanted - and then leave. Now, migrants are more likely to move permanently.

European Federation of Journalists to stop posting content on X The EFJ represents over 295,000 journalists in 44 countries.

More bad news for the Muskrat.
This is going to be a huge hit to his already ruined social media site.
I love this for him.

Angela Merkel just published her autobiography in Germany. During an interview at the launch she was asked about the recently collapsed government coalition: What do you think happened?

She just said: β€œWell... Men.”

Text of speech by Rep. Jim McGovern:

McGovern: What the hell is going on here? And their cabinet picks so far? These are like beyond insane. Someone who paid hush money to cover up a sexual assault accusation, you know, to lead our military? Someone who says that tap water turns kids gay.

Twitter = walking around carrying a shield whilst everyone spits and throws stones at you.

Bluesky = walking around carrying a new born puppy and everyone wants to know you.

We have used Twitter – now X – for many years. It has been a resource for story-gathering, network-building, and a megaphone for getting public-interest stories to a wider audience. And it has been a well of ideas and discourse.
Unfortunately that well is now poisoned.
All of us have seen X become more toxic and broken since Elon Musk took over in 2022.
Feeds have become less useful. Engagement has plummeted, except for those who will pay. Replies gain traction not through merit, but through the corrupted blue-tick system.
We have seen hate speech and abuse deliberately dialled up and amplified, boosted not just by the algorithm, but by the owner himself.
And England’s racist summer riots were one of many factors suggesting to us that X is not a neutral platform, but a space that now seems to glorify misinformation at a great cost to our public sphere.
Millions of people are ditching X, and we are doing so, too. We have taken the view that it is no longer a useful tool for objective reporting, but a weapon being wielded by a narrowing ideological set.
A tipping point is coming. Perhaps we are already in it.
After much consideration, we have taken the decision to move over to other platforms, in particular Bluesky. For some of us that means instantly deleting our X accounts, for others it is a more gradual process.
But we are all putting the majority of our efforts into building more constructive online spaces elsewhere for political dialogue and reporting.
Bluesky is becoming a new hub for political discussion, and we encourage other UK journalists to join and become active. We are already seeing far higher engagement on our posts there than we’ve seen recently on X.
And importantly, the mechanisms to limit abuse actually work.
We enjoyed Twitter while it lasted. It played an important role in shaping many of our careers. And it was, for a long time, the place to be for UK politics. We believe that time is now over.
Twitter is dead. Long live Twitter
