Maybe he'll end up being right about all of this and somehow we'll learn that this was all better than the actual likely alternative. It's hard for me to see this turning out the way he thinks it will.
I talked to him for a bit about Iran on Wednesday. I am hopeful that he may yet come around on this. If he does, I'm not sure how many people that will satisfy.
It gets weirder: a Peruvian election between a guy named Hitler and a guy named Vladimir Lenin???
@chrisgeidner.bsky.social like Mystery Man at the courthouse last week
How long were courts taking before the rule change?
I am seeing a lot of lawyers having chest pains at this.
Believe it or not, I have a hearing on Thursday where I'm seeking sanctions against lawyers who also appear to have done exactly this (and much other nonsense besides).
30 Rock has all the answers
More highlights from the last week of travel across #Ohio! From #Fremont to #Cleveland & stops in between in #Norwalk and #Berea, communities across our state are being activated to fight back against #gerrymandering and corruption. #HambleyForOhio #CareForOhio
(I tried to screenshot it for you, lest anyone not believe it--as I didn't, at first. But I can't seem to upload any images right now.)
Part of their response after being called out on it was to say "The quotation marks were intended to paraphrase the concept rather than quote the statute verbatim, and I apologize if that created confusion," and also "There was no material reliance on AI in preparing these responses."

You going?
Common pleas courts are too willing to endorse collusive litigationβesp. involving municipalities, who will achieve a desired result that's prohibited by their ordinances by inviting someone to sue them and immediately settling in a way that circumvents the ord, and claiming it's court-ordered.
I know the parties are probably frustrated by it, but I appreciate that position. The BTA decision seems to amount to a ruling that a condo association can't avoid real estate tax by having the port authority build it a parking garage on condo land over which the port has a perpetual easement.
I saw that one. Wonder how they'll wiggle out of it. I suppose there's nothing that prevents them from filing a merit brief and then another joint motion to vacate.
I'm not a trademark lawyer, but twice I've suggested to clients that they help an infringer rebrand rather than fight. One made the offer, which generated a lot of goodwill and my client eventually acquired the infringer. The other spent a ton of money (not w my firm!) on pointless litigation.
It's been a while, but I really enjoyed reading this book about him www.npr.org/2012/07/07/1...
Garbo!
I met Bryan a few weeks ago. He's a great candidate who is ready to meet the moment: focused on anti-gerrymandering and making it easy to vote. He's got my support, and I hope he'll get yours. Get involved and help spread the word!
I saw one of those fellas on the right when snorkeling last year!
red *shouldered* hawk! Note the black-and-white checkerboarding on the wingsβa no-doubt red-shouldered field mark. Also the heavy red barring on the breast (whereas a red-tailed would have a uniform breast and a distinct "belly band," and also a red tail)
I forgot the details, but a bird is marked rare or uncommon based on the percentage of ebird reports it's in recently in your area. Soβpeople aren't reporting mockingbirds lately. I think the cutuff is like under 6%. Not confident of that number.
Finally: the "rookie" season is free to play, but after that it costs $35/year. That's per year, not per season. Four seasons per year, plus a lot of optional between-season events that focus on specific topics.
If you're interested let me know! It is every bit as nerdy as it sounds.
You can try random sample questions here: learnedleague.com/samples.php
N.B. -- in my opinion the sample skews harder than the typical season. When I used to play sample questions before joining I'd get ~40% correct, but over several years in the league I'm getting about 65% correct.
amazing
Seasons are 1 match per day for 25 consecutive business days, 4 seasons/year. A match is 6 questions. They go live at 1 am Eastern, and you have 24 hours to answer them. You enter your answers, and you assign points based on whether you think *your opponent* is likely to get them. Most points wins.
There are only 2 rules: don't cheat (i.e., no looking up answers; entirely on the honor system), and don't forfeit (play every day there's a match, because your opponent is relying on you showing up).
